Known World
"We are called the Known World because after the Ice Age, we found our world had changed beyond repair. We thought we were the only ones left."The Known World is a mountainous continent in the north of Dankar. The continent is quite far from the other two as it's surrounded by a large ocean called the High Seas. Although the continent is not too far up north, it is still very cold, because of the Cryo Dragon that lives there. The Known World sometimes trades with the New World, supplying it with metals and technology, but otherwise remains quite protectionist. Unlike other places, it is not actively hostile to immigrants, but is not too keen on opening its doors after the Ice Age happened.
Government
The Known World is governed by the United Government (UG), a government formed from each country's individual governments. A lot of the time, the needs of individual countries are secondary to the overall goals of the United Government, for better or worse. Despite the continent's general insularity and isolation, one of the UG's stated aims is to promote the Known World on the world stage. Sometimes, the UG will make partnerships with countries outside the mainland, despite pubicly denouncing this very act.Nations
The White Forest
In the north of the Known World is a region called the White Forest. It is a large icy forest high in the mountains and is home to the Cryo Dragon. In the western part of the forest, there is a fjord, where a large river runs through. Because the mountains hold many materials and precious ores, the main industries in the White Forest are engineering, architecture and mining.Kostral
Kostral is unique in being the only country with a significant Torsten population. It is known for its beautiful architecture and engineering, and often trades with Veloras. It is considered a safe haven for the Torsten, so as a result, its citizens are prejudiced against other humanoids.Veloras
Veloras is known as the land of engineers. It frequently trades with Kostral and used to import metals from Aspait. Although it is the HQ of the United Government, Veloras is neutral and tends to stay out of other countries' problems, mainly acting as a mediator.Aspait
Aspait is a country in the southwest of the Known World. It is known for its abundance of precious metal ores, earning the envy of its neighbour, Kostral. Many areas of Aspait were destroyed in the war that ensued between the two countries, but its citizens are rebuilding the country now the war is over.Taqairo
Taqairo is in the east of the continent and is known for its agriculture and tourism. Most people live in the south, where there is less forest, but the villagers live in the north. Taqairo trades frequently with the New World and is fast becoming a prosperous place to live.The Southern Plains
Below the White Forest is a smaller region called the Southern Plains. It is much warmer than the White Forest, but still has a cold climate. The main industries in the Southern Plains are agriculture and fishing, because of the warmer weather.Brigadia
Brigadia is an island south of the Known World mainland. It is known for its booming entertainment industry. Brigadia gets its name from the huge bridges that link the two sides of the island together.Dathela
Dathela is called the garden country because of its wide array of fauna. It has a fast-growing economy because its unique plants are sought-after for healthcare and recreational uses.Osuno
Osuno is a coastal country famed for its marine engineering and boating prowess. Because of their good-quality boats, the country is also considered a hub for pirates and adventurers alike.
