Elf Species in Deabros | World Anvil

Elf

Elves are a relatively new race among Deabros. Elven children are born from a Kalashtar (or Vesynite or Lenosite) and an eladrin parent. However, it has been noted that even when elves mate with eladrin, their children continue to be elves, rather than eladrin.   Elves, in general, lack a unified culture. Because they tend to be a mixed-race people that occur wherever kalashtar and eladrin people collide, they wind up becoming the product of their surroundings, whether those surroundings be Dawnrest, Talashan, Keltia, Dokan, or the wilds of Deabros. Most elves complain of feeling adrift, or of not belonging to either of their originating people. Depending on the society they are in, they may experience intolerance, hatred, or an irritating form of racism that takes the form "curiosity".   Elves in places like Dawnrest or Keltia may experience less racism or isolation. Dawnrest and Keltia are such a melting pot of individuals, lacking a foundational race to mold their social identities. Dawnrest and Keltia may become known as a sort of "haven" for those who feel as the elves do.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Ability Score Increase Your Dexterity score increases by 2.   Speed Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Darkvision Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Keen Senses You have proficiency in the Perception skill.   Fey Ancestry You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.   Trance Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elves have a low fertility rate, not nearly as bad as their eladrin forebears, but still not quite average. Without attempts at conception, elves are unlikely to reproduce from sexual relations. Additionally, even if they successfully do reproduce, the chance for multiple births are very low. An elf is capable of childrearing as approximately 25 to 35 years of age, although it would be considered taboo for them to have a child so young, as they are not yet considered adults.
