Waterborn

Those touched by the magic of the Primeval of Water, Leviathan, become waterborn. Their gifts do not make them objectively dangerous to others like the flame or earthborn but myths persist about them attracting the Leviathan, hurting their popularity among sailors and tradesmen. Waterborn receive nicknames like scaleys, soggies, and fishers to put them down. Typically possessing blue, green, or gray skin, hair, and eyes makes them noticeable, but it is their aquatic features that are most distinguishable. Waterborn frequently have scaly patches on their skin, frequently on their shoulders, forearms, legs, or around their torso. They typically have more webbing between their fingers and toes, making them excellent swimmers. And though not generally visible, waterborn also possess the ability to breathe underwater. Waterborn can learn to summon and command water according to their will, becoming mighty water mages. The irony then becomes that they are physically predisposed to be phenomenal seamen, but are generally distrusted by their would-be shipmates.
