Volron City
Kobolds have build an entire city here within the bones of Volron-ton the Kin-eater, an ancient cannibalistic red dragon. Within being the operative word - Volron-ton was large enough that his hollowed out bones actually work as tunnels and streets for the diminutive Kobolds, who still mine the bones and their marrow for sale to markets in Eal.
Dragon-mining can be dangerous work even by kobold standards. Marrow from the ribs and skull, if ingested, has been known to drive humanoids mad. Kobolds therefore tend to avoid these areas - not out of any concern for their potential customers, but from fear of breathing in or swallowing even trace amounts of the marrow.
Volron-ton was not only a powerful dragon, but a necromancer, and the surrounding desert still carries the scars of his reign. While necromancy is not practiced without restriction in Eal anymore, it is still practiced, and temples and schools will send promising students to the region to study Volron-ton's resting place. It is one of the most dangerous regions of the empire, but scholars will risk much to examine whatever ruins have not yet been scoured from the world by the shifting sands of the east.
