Minotaurs

Minotaurs are descendants of humanoids that were transformed by lost rituals of cults that rejected authority, calling civilization itself oppressive, and returned to nature as though beasts. Within these cults the cultists hunt, kill and eat like wild beasts, and indulge in their basest most primal urges, finishing with a humanoid sacrifice. Often unknown to the members of said cult, they did this in worship to a demon lord Baphomet, the Horned King. These cults would always end with the entire cult slaughtering each other, down to a final few members, who would be honoured by Baphomet, and transformed in his image. Then abandoned them to there own devices, trusting they would spread darkness in his name.

Not all Minotaurs are evil still, and most could even be considered cordial, though almost all are solitary. it is said that some of them have through concentration and meditation can revert to a normal humanoid form, but maintaining this form requires a bit of concentration, so its not always consistent, often leading to even these Minotaurs remaining distant from most settlements, but no one really knows Minotaurs, so most of what is spoken of them is rumor or fantasy.

It is common knowledge told through the land of what these cults end in, and there are no known cults currently practicing these ancient rites, and no one doubts the existence of Minotaurs. The terrifying version's of them are trapped in ancient labyrinths, and old ruins, still trying to engage in communion with their Demon Lord, and willing to commit any evil to draw his attention.
