Soldier

The military has been a way of life for you, as a youth you studied the use of weapons and armor , learned basic survival techniques including how to stay alive on the battlefield. You have a military rank, and other Soldiers that are loyal to your organization will recognize that rank and the authority and influence that come with it, and defer to you if they are a lower rank. This also allows access to friendly military encampments and fortresses.
When you choose this background you will need to work with the DM to determine which military organization you were a part of, how far through the ranks you progressed. It could be as simple as a simple town guard or a village milita, or a standing army of a kingdom or nation. Perhaps it was a private army or even a mercenary company. You would also have a specific role you fulfilled in your unit.
