Three Cultures of Elves
When you speak about elves there are two distinct cultures of Elves on Eldridth, High Elves, Forest Elves and City Elves.
High Elves are elves not long removed from their Fey bound ancestors. High elves are visually distinct from all other elves, having each of the normal elf features much more distinct. There skin is often brightly colored in natural tones, and appears to glimmer in direct sunlight. High elves are rare, as the only born to other High Elves if both parents are high elves, and even then it is possible for a child to be a Forest elf, especially the longer the bloodline has endured out of the Feywild. The often make up what constitutes Elven Royalty, often holding the highest stations in Elf Tribes. Given they rarely travel far from a tribe it’s a rare and often memorable sight to see a High Elf.
Wood Elves are the largest population of elves among the tribes of elves. They do not have the overly distinctive features of the High elves, and are a tad bit shorter than the High Elves. There ears are still pointy, just not quite as long. Their skin is still in natural tones, but not nearly as brightly colored. Most often they are the common elves in the tribes. Taking up a task for the tribe like hunting, skinning, weapons smithing, gathering, animal caretaker, and so on. Wood Elves live there lives amongst nature, and have a deep bond with it.
City Elves are the most encountered, as they have adjusted to a life among the other races. In appearance they are much like the Wood Elves. While the name may imply they they are only in big cities, in actuality this term is often considered on the edge of being offensive, as it is more used to describe any elf that was not raised among a Elven Tribe. They often still individually attempt to connect to their culture, but it is much more of a struggle to do so. When able, they often settle near other eves or half elves. There lives are little different from the other races of Eldridth, except when it comes to their longer lives.
