Understanding Currency

Some Government mints their own coins, though mostly licence banks to do it on their behalf, and because of the similarities in the coins, unless it is against the law in the land, most merchants will take any equivalent currencies. Most currency is exchanged as Copper Coins or Silver Coins. Gold coins are not common amongst the normal folk, though among the upper class, or those who live frugally to save may have Gold Coins, wealthy aristocrates or the rare merchant have much of the wealth, and trade it mostly amongst themselves, as the higher value items. Merchants are more likely to hold a bit of coin over their normal value, just from trading and savings, though your average laborer is unlikely to get their hands on a gold coin, as most employers payout in silver or copper just because its harder for the employee's to spend the megar amount of gold they would be given.

Currency Type

A coin is a small piece of that metal, that has been minted in to a thin chip by a banking institution, and while it may not be of value in all nations, it usually holds its value due to being made of the metal itself, and its abilitly to be reminted. A cubic is a small cube of that metal holding a greater value then its coin form, and is usually universally accepted at value. A small bar is a 1 lb, or half lb in the case of platinum, and a Ingot is a 10 lb block of that metal, both of which are also universally accepted.
