Pantoran Smithy

The blacksmith's forge is a lively hub of activity, with the rhythmic sound of hammer striking metal echoing through the air. The building is a sturdy structure made of stone and timber, with an open-fronted design to allow for ventilation. You see the blacksmith, a muscular Tiefling with sooty red skin and impressive horns, hard at work shaping metal on the anvil. The forge is filled with tools of the trade: hammers, tongs, and various molds for weaponry and armor. Weapons and tools of various designs hang on the walls, showcasing the village's craftsmanship. A warm glow from the furnace illuminates the space, casting a reddish hue on everything. ~ Rummi the Bard

Purpose / Function

The Pantoran Smithy provides a place for minor repairs that are needed in the Pantoran Village. It also supplies the local hunters with some of their vital gear. The smithy does a small amount of trade with merchants and travelers who pass through the Northern Forest on their way to Tir Fhasach or Tinkergarde Kingdom.

Architecture

Exterior Features:

The building is sturdy and functional, constructed primarily from thick stone at the base, providing a solid foundation that withstands the intense heat and constant activity of the forge. Above the stone base, the walls are made of heavy timber beams, their dark wood polished to a rich sheen. These wooden elements are carved with intricate nature symbols, such as leaves, vines, and forest creatures, intertwining the building with the surrounding environment.   The roof is thatched, similar to other structures in the village, with a slight overhang to protect the open-fronted design from rain while allowing the forge's heat and smoke to escape. The edges of the thatch are adorned with wooden carvings of flames, symbolizing the fire that is the heart of the blacksmith's work.   Above the open entrance, a sign hangs depicting a stylized anvil with flames, hinting at the infernal nature of the blacksmith himself.

Interior Layout:

Forge Area: As you step inside, the forge dominates the space. A massive stone hearth occupies the center of the open-fronted area, where the furnace roars with life, casting a warm, reddish glow over everything. The blacksmith’s anvil, polished from years of use, is positioned in front of the furnace. The rhythmic sound of hammer striking metal echoes through the building, adding to the lively atmosphere.   Workstations: Along the sides of the building, wooden workbenches are laden with tools of the trade—hammers, tongs, chisels, and molds. Each tool has its place, organized with the precision that only a master craftsman could achieve. The wooden walls behind the workstations are lined with pegs and shelves, where weapons and tools of various designs hang in neat rows, showcasing the blacksmith's skill and the village's craftsmanship.   Display Area: To the left of the entrance, a section of the wall is dedicated to displaying finished pieces. Part of this area is filled with wagon parts, meticulously arranged on shelves and hooks.  The items range from sturdy wheels and axles to decorative metal reinforcements, all essential for The Pantoran Tiefling Carnival wagons. The metal props here are equally impressive—frames for parade floats and structural supports are adorned with playful, whimsical designs like intertwining vines, twinkling stars, and other festive symbols, bringing a sense of joy and creativity to the space.    The rest of the display area focuses on practicality and durability, primarily serving the village's hunters and potential travelers.  The walls are lined with weapons and armor designed specifically for navigating and surviving the dense forest. Bows with reinforced tips hang next to quivers filled with metal-tipped arrows, all crafted with precision and care. Sturdy hunting knives and lightweight armor pieces are also on display. The armor, a combination of leather and metal, is designed for mobility and stealth, blending into the natural environment while offering essential protection. Each item here is crafted with the hunter’s unique needs in mind, ensuring they are well-equipped for the challenges of the forest.
