Feywild

The Feywild is a land of incandescent beauty, where trees, birds, animals and the fey folk live in a strange harmony with one another. It is a land of beauty and dignity without good, of savagery and brutality without evil. Born of the dreams of the Crann Domhanda, the Feywild exists apart from our world and yet it is a part of it. All forests upon our land is both mirror and entryway into the dreams of the Worldtree.

Geography

The Feywild's geography is strange, subject to the whims and fears of the creatures that call it home. It is dominated by great forests teeming with all manner of life. Different types of forests exist within the Feywild, populated by different creatures. These are often reflections of the woods and creatures that populate their mirrors in the material plane. Like so, great cataclysms of ice, fire or humanoid endeavor may harm the Feywild, though usually not without resistance from fey warriors. Such cataclysms have left their scars on the Feywild before, in lands such as the Ashfields and the Frozen Pines.
Some areas of the Feywild are dominated by the Great Trees, colossal trees that reach to the heavens. It is here that Treeants make their home, where they are born from seedlings and spend their long lifetimes growing greater and greater.
Another part is dominated by Rain Forests, where colorful, teeming life spreads and mingles.
Another part is the Bog, where miles upon miles of sodden ground is populated by low-hanging trees.
There is no true explanation for why one area is one way or the other. Geographic position is relative in the Feywild, and the climate changes on a whim. It seems more like any given land in the Feywild chose how to be, and then changed the climate to suit that desire. Nor is the land ever in a fixed position. Travelling the same path twice can show you a million sights, none of which you are likely to see again. To travel a path safely, one must have something that belongs to one's destination.
In addition to these "natural" parts of the Feywild, there are also the courts of the Fey. These are the areas where the different Fey spirits hold dominion. Spirits like the Hags, True Lycanthropes, Treeants, Fairies, Hulders and Thorn Giants are formed and shaped by the Feywild as well as shaping the Feywild in return, changing the Dream Realm to suit their nature. A few of these, in particular the Hags, can do this with direct intention, but the most powerful of all creatures and spirits can learn to do so. The Courts, however, derive their names from the homes of the true Fey Princes. These Fey Spirits are the most powerful of their kind, many of them born from Crann Domhanda itself. They include the likes of the Laughing Wolf, the Beastlord and the Twisting Trails.

Fauna & Flora

All manner of animals that we find in the material world, except many of them more dangerous. The creatures of all the forests exist in the Feywild, but are made even more wild and dangerous by the dreams of Crann Domhanda.

History

The First Dream
After the First War, when Stronmaus, god of the Storm Giants, convinced Crann Domhanda to enter a deep slumber, the dream began. Crann Domhanda settled in the First Forest as the Worldtree, where it stood protected by the Wood Elves. The Fey Princes who had fought for Crann Domhanda returned to the ancient forests they had protected so long, and found that they could walk deeper than before. They found a dream-realm, created by Crann Domhanda, stretching out from the Worldtree through its roots to all the forests of the world. They found an entire plane, a plane that had been left as a blessing for them.
They began creating their courts, claiming ownership over the Feywild and engaging in their new schemes. They took control of huge swathes of the forests engaged in their own petty struggles. They had unique power over the Feywild, given to them by Crann Domhanda.
The Dreamwar
Eventually the wood elves were tired of the Fey Princes' arrogance and deceptions. They committed themselves to war against the Fey Princes. After centuries of war, which lasted second or milennia in the Feywild, depening on who you ask, the Wood Elves defeated the Fey Princes and subjugated most of them, claiming the Feywild as their own. Though the Wood Elves pretend to rule over the Feywild, in reality they control only a small part directly. Their rulership more represents a network of allies, proxies and threats, whereby the Wood Elves can travel wherever they wish.
