Lars Stivir
Lars Stivir
Lars was the lowborn son of a merchant in the city of Stivir. He married Lady Margaret Stivir and together they had two children, Catherine and Marchal Stivir.
Lars and his children chafed under the strict rule of Lady Margaret, and so spent the greater part of their time in The City of Bayglen where they owned a house off The Royal Lawn. Lars enjoyed the bustling royal court - initially as an opportunity to manouevre politically for his house, but later for the love of the fine food and drink that could be enjoyed at the various events held.
In 442KS, with the prolonged absence of King Tyon I Cray, Lars conspired with Lord Erac Tallman and Anglin Marchart to form The Shadow Council of Bayglen, an organisation which sought to exert their own influence over the power vaccum left by the King's absence and the perceived lack of power wielded by Lyla Fossoway, the King's Steward. The Shadow Council encouraged the various minor nobles of Bayglen and visitors to settle issues by way of Public Duels to highlight the absence of anyone sitting the throne with the authority to properly mediate such disputes.
The Shadow Council was disbanded by the arrival of ser Newall Foxworth in the capital, who promptly challenged Lord Erac to a duel over the issue. When the Lord of Summerswind refused to meet the duel any authority he or the council were percieved to hold vanished. Newall then went on to appoint himself, with the King's blessing, as the Royal Justicar until Tyon's return, lending the weight of his Duchy to Lyla Fossoway's position, and blunting the conspiracy before it could bear fruit.
Lars returned to Stivir with his children, withdrawing from politics in the capital and instead supporting his wife's schemes more locally, though she continued to treat him with barely concealed contempt.
He died in 450KS at the age of fifty.
