The Kingsroad Fellowship
In 440KS the vast majority of The Kingdom of Somercrag's fighting men and women marched across The Witwell Mountains to war to oppose The Irogonie Aggression. Ser Nathan Eastford, then the Mayor of Hwen in the lands of House Bonebrake of The Stonehouse, took to travelling The Kingsroad as a vigilante to oppose the wave of banditry which rose up in the absence of the nation's knights and men-at-arms.
Ser Nathan became something of a folk hero amongst the Smallfolk of the various settlements which he rode to the defense of, and attracted a small band of loyal followers - smallfolk who followed his inspiration and took up arms. Ser Nathan chose to knight three of them - ser Aladaniola Ghaydon, ser Cyrus Frosher and ser Nedan Myden, and together they founded The Kingsroad Fellowship.
Although ser Nathan had been the first member, he had no interest in leading a band of knights. He gladly allowed ser Aladaniola to take charge of the Fellowship. Over the following year and a half they knighted several more followers, and accepted another wandering knight, ser Ablech Ilanhis, into their ranks.
Inevitably as the Fellowship grew issues arose. Ser Cyrus Frosher took umbrage with the rapid growth of the band, and particularly with the appointment of ser Ablech, an infamous drunkard. The tensions came to a head in Autumn of 441KS when, in their first battle after joining the Fellowship, ser Corra Gelt the youngest member of the band, became grievously injured. Ser Cyrus blew up at ser Aladniola, accusing her of putting the glory of the Fellowship above the safety of its members, diluting the value of knighthood by accepting drunks and children with no thought to how they would fare in battle. Ser Cyrus left the Fellowship that day and has not been seen by any of them since.
The Kingsroad Fellowship were in attendance at this momentous event, where they learned of a call for knights to Swear Their Swords to the defence of the King, forming The Kingsguard of Tyon I Cray.
After a brief discussion at The Tavern With No Name in Bayglen's Lostgate district the Fellowship agreed unanimously to answer the call and join the Kingsguard.
On the Second day of January 442KS the Fellowship, alongside Hedge Knights ser Carsen Prester, ser Kristin Longspeare and ser Marcer Oberon and ser Severin Lowblade, the second son of a noble house, swore their lives to defend King Tyon and founded the Kingsguard. Their first duty would be to accompany the King to Fairstrand to deliver the King's Justice to the Somercrag Princes.
