Toyokawa
Known as the last true settlement before the wilds of The Maw, Toyokawa village lies just north of the easiest pass through The Teeth. It is the stronghold of the Hirose Clan, a subject of the Yomei who are considered near outcasts for their blending of Yomei culture with that of the lowlands. However, it is also thanks to this that they are viewed by the other Great Clans as the most approachable, and as such have managed to win the tolerance and respect of the Yomei by keeping it supplied with the treasures crafted by the other Clans.
Hirose House
There is no better indicator of the Hirose clan's standing then the fact they hold no manors or castles - the seat of their power is a humble home within the village palisade, dwarved by the surrounding businesses. Whilst it is true the Yomei as a whole break from the culture of the Land of Reeds when it comes to personal holdings denoting power and prestige, the Hirose exist between cultures, trying to balance the respect of both the lowlanders and the Great Clan.Soyokaze Tea House
One of the largest businesses in the village, though that is not saying much, the Soyokaze ("Gentle Breeze") is truthfully more an inn than a tea house, but the locals continue to refer to it as such due to tradition. It offers services such as tea gatherings (formal and informal), a humble stage, hot baths, and a rock garden.Reflections Izakaya
Catering to a lower class of customer than the refined Soyokaze, Reflections is a tiny bar crammed between storehouses. It bears it's name thanks to the one luxury possession of it's proprietor, one Akio Shiba - a hand mirror, hung up in a place of honour behind the bar alongside his swords.Defences
The heart of the village is protected by a square palisade, with firing platforms on each corner to dissuade raiders. There is also a local guard force of ashigaru - light infantry made up of volunteers, roughly equivalent to a militia, commanded by the samurai sworn to the Hirose Clan.
