Mirathen Empire
The Mirthen Empire is a ancient and historied nation. In modern times, they posses a shadow of their former power, but are still a formidable political and milarty force.
Culture
Mirathen is historically a Human nation and its leaders have been human for many centuries. However, nationalism is far more important than racial heritage as most Mirthanese believe their country to be a divinely established entity made to set an example for all other sentient creations. They believe that Mirath, The City of Stars, was the landing point for humanity on Halor and the gathering point for all civiliation in the Age of Migration. This belief transcends that of individual religions and theology, as the Mandate of Stars (that is, the direction to become the moral bastion and leader of sentient mortal life) came directly from Qor. Thus, Mirathen culture sees itself as inherintly superior to other cultures and tends to impose its will on others. Religion is still sparingly practiced, with sects of Aluism and Haukrism popping up but always taking a backseat in importance to the great whole of Mirath and the Mandate of Stars. Given the current political state and recent losses in wars, some citizens are beginning to doubt the Mandate and have become bitter about their situation and empire.
History
The Mirthan Empire once spanned around the entirity of the Coricut Sea during its peak of power in the midst of the Age of Magic. Mirathen lost the western half of their empire when Elvespians fled Ormyst and founded the Sesekvar Tetrarchy. Later, further wars pushed them back towards Ontalia where they then began to expand eastwards. This was cut short by the powerful Hathrun Empire though many years of war occured between the two nations before the matter was settled. Recently, involvement in the Ontalian War has left Mirathen territory smaller than it has ever been, though certianly not small. However, expansions into Ormyst and islands within the 8th band have led to deposits of Zellium which has reigniting the Mirathen industry and economy.
