Auchnavar
Auchnavar is a small, clan-based monarchy which controls the entirety of Kingour, a small, frigid isle between Fron Aberaelwyd and Pwenlylyn. The nation is controlled primarily by the High Parliament, a house of fifty delegates from various clans around Auchnavar, which controls most of the government's power. The ceremonial High King, currently a title held by Seymour Arbosas, has power of little other than the nation's military as well as having some ceremonial powers. The capital of Auchnavar, Malinkirk, is a fairly sizable town located in the nation's interior, closer to the southern regions of the country which primarily focuses on agriculture and metalworking. In general, the south is far less developed than the north, which houses most of the major trading and fishing ports that the nation's mostly agricultural, guild-based economy relies on. The capital used to be the major northern port town of Halfbrook, though it was moved farther south upon the ascension of the Arbosas dynasty into power, given their clan's ancestral land was in the south of Kingour.
Auchnavar is an isolationist kingdom in terms of global politics. Auchnavaran kings have a history of not getting involved with global or regional conflicts and often refuse to send aid or support, at least openly, to warring kingdoms. Most international involvement from Auchnavar comes in the form of trade deals with nearby states, such as those in Fron Aberaelwyd. With a rich and diverse series of Froslak clans, the nation's government must often spend more time focusing on internal disputes and disagreements. Border disputes, religious tension among different Froslakian sects, and increasing banditry are all issues that plague Auchnavar in the modern day. In terms of religious turmoil, the Shard-Touched, a cult of worshippers of the Froslakian Earth god, Gudor, run rampant throughout the country, having taken control of various towns in the south of Auchnavar. The cult, seen as a dangerous and volatile entity by many, are said to practice old, occult magic that dates back to pre-Wellspring Froslakian ritualistic arcana. Rumors spread throughout Auchnavar describing kidnappings, murders, and curses that the cult is said to have perpetrated.
The people of Auchnavar value faith and their traditional rites and culture. They believe in limited sacrifice, mostly with herd animals, and other ideals that emanate from their people's background in occult and dark magic, especially before the Wellspring's arrival. Auchnavar is a clan-based society, with most people associating with a variety of ancient clans that have resided in Kingour for millenia. There are hundreds of clans in Auchnavar, each with differing traditions and beliefs surrounding key elements of Froslakian culture and religion. Auchnavar was united recently, having been a loose coalition of clans for centuries, but never having been a defined state. The unifying clans of Auchnavar kept the formerly existent coalition's parliamentary government, in order to reduce tension among the differing clans, but decided that a ceremonial leader was necessary to act as a figure head of Auchnavar.
