Another high elf peer apprentice, Triandal, maintained a simmering rivalry with Rhistel. The two frequently attempted to surpass each other, slathered with constant smugness and passive aggression. Though they would both claim superiority over the other, colleagues agreed they were equally matched after their apprenticeship ended.
His misfotunes would turn around though around 20 Kythorn (6), 1496. Livi contacted him, as well as Rhistel Faevyre saying he found a great source of lost knowledge at Stormwreck Isle. Triandal, being furious that Livi would get Rhistel involved decided to take initative and find where Livi was, or would be housed up. He bribed the courier to find out what town the letter came from, and find it was Luskan. He quickly set out to find Livi's home/lab but was too late.
After finding Livi's house on 29 Kythorn, he saw the inside was destroyed from what looked to be an explosion of thunder magic, and the mangled corpse of his associate laying next to a book covered in runes. Saddened by the loss of someone who may have been cooperative with him, he quickly wrote an anonymous letter to Alfric Osuin relaying the news of Livi's demise, but not where. After all, Triandal has some studying to do...

Triandal has been busy doing his own brand of research into magic, not wanting to be bested by Rhistel. Having originally captured Rirlox around Neverwinter in early 1495.
