The Shocker
AKA Last Hope
"I'm here to shock the World, drink greggle and crush the enemy of all balters."One of the more recent blade additions and sized similar to the Original blade but offering angled edges for unexpected balt attacks, making it even more random than Two-face's 'bulb' system. Not a blade for a balter purist but for those who fancy some fun or simply believe they stand no chance against their opponent they might use this blade and hope to win through unpredictability.
Point of interest: The Last Hope has proven a fickle mistress in the tremena as no balter has ever won a championship using this blade. It seems our Lord of Light has no time for those that abscond skill in favour of luck.
Blade features:
- The Shocker is one of the heavier blades on the market and can be further increased in weight with the addition of iron slats shoved into its shaft. This increases attack shot power but at a cost to agility.
- The angled sides allow for unpredictable shots.
- A slight graduated face imparts subtle effects to the balt. (Providing you hit the middle of the blade and not the angled side of course!)
- Rudimentary design offers no airflow features. I am currently experimenting with adding more aerodynamic features to make the blade less of a novelty act.
Goster's personal opinion:
The Last Hope was never designed to be a serious blade. It was created as a joint venture between Rogix the Wizard and Fragle the balter. Both of whom never made a name for themselves in their own respective fields but after the Shocker's creation became instant celebreties throughout Lendor. Despite the blade's gimmick it has become one of the most popular blades around, and I am still confused why. The major problem with the Last Hope is its shallow main face which offers a much smaller sweet spot than all the other popular choices. The variable weight system allows for more powerful shots but since you cannot control the shot this makes it virtually impossible to aim for goal corners. If you genuinely feel you cannot beat your opponent then, perhaps, there's nothing wrong with trying the Last Hope. At the very least the fans love watching the unpredictable shots, so it provides a chance to increase your rab reputation. For the beginner balter I advise avoiding this blade for it teaches poor habits that are difficult to remove when you finally progress to a proper blade.
The future of Shocker:
Despite its obvious limitations the Shocker continues to be one of my top sellers. This is partly because it is the cheapest blade I sell but I believe people just enjoy using this blade for its unpredictable nature. I am near completing my latest Shocker creation which I hope will revolutionise the blade market. I can reveal none of my design secrets yet but I will provide a free concept model to all balters willing to use it in their contests. Offer applicable to known Pro balters only - Not One-Tier Balters. I reserve the right to rescind this offer at a minutes notice.
