Veli Riderson
Jarl/ Ealdorman
Veli of Greenhaven is the son of Filavandrel Hero of the Vale and the twin to Circi of Greenhaven. His father gave him a pagan name as a symbol of peace with the pagan villages that surrounded him. Veli's father taught him his control and skill over water. With his father dead and the dragon riders gone Veli is the only person alive with dragon magic.
It was cruel when he lost his father--the man who made him into a man himself. Veli was sent away by his father to traiin with the Red Paladin. So when his father was beheaded by Circi-- he was completely oblivious. When he finally returned his home had been taken, and he was cast out: now an enemy of his sister. He traveled across the country trying to raise an army great enough to overthrow his sister, and take back his home. His name was not known for some time. Not until the civil war between King Titus and the Heden tribes. Veli fought on the side of the Sunians( just as his father taught him) and the Nathair that aided the humans in his fight. After the war, and his year of sercive. Veli sailed to the new home of the Heden tribes, and the very people he just fought off (the Southern Isles) to make peace. Only after finding love with the Heden King's daugther did he thrive. He was given a baren, and forgotten piece of land-- just a small, desolate piece of farm land on the main isle. Here he waited with his followers for a day when he could make his attack. He grew this dead land into a small village which was named Alton. Veli got married to the shieldmaiden Brida, and made three children, Uhtred Wolf-Faced, the eldest, Bjorn-The Godless the second born, and Lydia of Alton. He was given the name Riderson by t his wife when she discoverd he had no Sir-Name. It was fitting as he is the son of a famous dragon rider. In Alton he waited for five, painful years, until the day he uncoverd Circi's true ambitions, and waged war to stop them from coming to fruition.
He used his favor with the King of the isles to bolster his amry quickly. With his own men and the King's men he lead an siege on Greenhaven and he succeed. He broke through the thick, wooden walls of his home and lead his raiders into Greenhaven. In his father's longhouse, the home he was raised in, he faced his sister. They had a great and terrible battle. Veli formed a massive hurricane that reached into the sky atop it, Circi formed a dragon of shadow: malice, and for an hour they clashed, but in the end his sister fained, and Veli gained the upper hand. He cleaved the head right off of his twin and put the fued to rest. Yet for as great as this victory was he failed. King Titus L, and his men rode out to Greenhaven. For his murdering of and Ealdorman of The Vale. hH was labeled a traito, and outlawr to the Vale. His newborn nephew Borus was named the new Ealdorman of Greenshire, and Veli was banished forever from the Vale. Defeated he retuned to Alton. For his strength and valor in battle King Skulvar made him a Jarl , the Jarl of Alton. He ruled over his lands for ten years with no way of going home, but war was brewing. A larger, and more terrible one than the world had seen. Veli Riderson witnessed first hand what the Bullks could do when they razed the Southern Isles. In the war to come King Titu l died of Red-Death, and his son, King Titus ll rose to power. The new King's hatred of Veli was strong, but just like his ancestors he used the warrior in the war all the same. On the Darkest Day Veli Riderson led his circle into the fray atop his father's mount, Kuthu-Warbringer:leading every other dragon on Kerne. After the Darkest Day Titus lldecreed Veli a citizen of the Vale and revoked his banishment.
Now there is no end to Veli's tale yet because it still continues. He works daily to raise his children and to take back his home and his birthright.
“What about your nephew?” Odda asked boldly
“What of Borus?” Veli asked.
“If things start to look bad for him his priests They have him moved. We will need to kill him quickly.”
“We will do no such thing," Veli said in protest.
The party looked at Veli with unanimous harsh and judging looks, Essus hissed, “Veli we have talked about this.”
“No, I will not kill a boy!”
Odda roared, “He has no children, if you kill the boy then you are the only heir to Greenhaven! It is the only way Riderson!”
“Borus is a child! He did not ask to be Ealdorman; He is innocent! We will take him captive; he will sign the throne over to me and make the passing public, but he will live!”
“Odda is right, innocent or not the boy has to die,” Hafi grumbled.
Veli’s emerald eyes grew into a green fire, “You will not touch him Hafi! No one will, that is an order! If anyone kills Borus they will join him shortly!”

Failures & Embarrassments
Veli never quite recovered from his failure at Greenhaven. He had believed so strongly that he was right, and that the gods were with him. So when he was forced out of his home for the second time he was quite lost. He eventually came out of it and devoted more time then ever before to Alton.
Mental Trauma
In his younger years Veli was brash and quick to rush into conflict, sure he would win, but after killing his twin sister, and the loss of his wife he grew colder and lonely. He became more quiet and calculated. He refuses to talk about his sister with most people now.
Relationships
History
Veli and Essus met in the Heden Civil War. At the time Veli was in service to the Ealdorman of Rainhold and was a foot soldier. During the war the Desert came to King Titus's aid in fighting the pagans. It was fighting side by side that the two met for the first time.
