Merchant Princes
Seven Merchant Princes form the council that rules over Port Nyanzaru from Goldenthrone, their qualifications simply being that they were among the richest inhabitants when independence was gained from Amn, and the positions are passed to family members or other wealthy nobles, as agreed by the current members.
Each Prince presides over different areas of trade and commerce, so as to limit inter-council competition, and although each has an equal vote in governance matters, there is always a continually shifting hierarchy of influence and respect among them. Their individual goals and intentions are varied. Some have a genuine interest in encouraging prosperity among the citizenship, others are purely concerned with their own agendas. In Port Nyanzaru, gold is everything.
Ekene-Afa, an ex-gladiator of the Grand Coliseum and legendary amongst the common folk. She controls the sale of weapons, shields and travelling equipment.
Ifan Talro'a has huge influence over the Tiryki Anchorage and the Dinosaur Races, he controls the training, housing and sale of beasts and dinosaurs.
Jessamine holds much respect from the other princes. She controls plants, herbs and poisons, and other more unsavoury occupations.
Jobal was previously a guide of the jungle, from which he obtained the start of his wealth. He oversees licencing for the current Jungle Guides, the sale of maps, and the activity of mercenary factions.
Kwayothé is the youngest of the Princes, and started as a poor commoner from no noble family. She holds control over fruits, wines, alcohol, oils and perfumes.
Wakanga O'Tamu is possibly the most powerful of the Princes, and the most likely to press for council action to aid the city, over serving his own interests. Undoubtedly the most accomplished Wizard in Port Nyanzaru, he controls the sale of magical items and lore.
Zhanthi comes from an old and respected family, with roots potentially tracing to the Chultan royalty of centuries ago. She controls the sale of gems, jewelry, clothing and armour.
