Zola (ZOE-lah)
Jhea'Zalaxani Zola Takar
Zola is only a teenager but has had to grow up quickly, so she seems older than she is. She is an expert pickpocket, enjoying the challenge of successfully snatching things as much as the profit.
For the most part, she adheres to traditional Vincaran culture in order to keep her grandmother happy.
Although Zola is technically Xorax's first cousin, she's far more like a sister to him. They were both raised--and manipulated--by their grandmother, Brialla.
Mental characteristics
Gender Identity
Zola embraces her feminity but wishes her culture wasn't so misogynistic. She doesn't blame Xorax for it, but resents the way he automatically inherited all of their grandfather's prized possessions and legacy. Sometimes she can't help reminding him that Xarax was her grandfather, too.
Sexuality
She is a lesbian and is out to Xorax, but not to their grandmother due to traditional Vincaran culture's homophobia.
Education
She attends the same run-down public school in the Vincaran Quarter as Xorax and Sicara, although she skips class much less often than her cousin.
Mental Trauma
Losing her parents so young and then being raised by her mentally unstable, verbally abusive grandmother hasn't done Zola's mental health any favors, but she's about as well adjusted as she can be.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Zola is devoted to the family vendetta, but wistfully thinks of a future when all that is over and she can make her own path.
Likes & Dislikes
Her favorite color is yellow.

Family Ties
Religious Views
Brialla doesn't give Zola a choice as to which deity to devote herself to: Telik, god of war and vengeance. If left to her own devices, Zola wouldn't be particularly religious, however.
Social Aptitude
She's used to being overshadowed by her cousin, so she gets attached quicky if someone shows her personal attention.
Hobbies & Pets
Zola enjoys cooking, although the range of ingredients available to her is slim due to poverty.
Relationships
History
Zola and Xorax were both raised by their grandmother since they were small children, and as such are more like siblings than cousins. They are the only people in the world who can really understand what they've both been through.
History
Brialla values traditional Vincaran culture, and urges her granddaughter to dress and behave in more conservative ways. Sometimes Zola doesn't mind (she likes cooking) but other times she rebels (by taking off a layer of robes after she leaves the house). She also knows that Brialla would disapprove of her attraction to women, so she remains closeted. Thanks to Zola's skill in staying on Brialla's good side, they rarely argue.
Wealth & Financial state
The Takar family is very poor. Zola and her family live in a cramped, run-down apartment.
