Jhea'Ellatriani Klai'Xaraxani Um Brialla Takar
Brialla is the widow of
Xarax, the Vincaran commander who fell during the
Battle of Miantar, the climactic battle of the
Great Civil War. She has never gotten over his death, and her excessive thirst for vengeance has caused enormous strife for the next two generations of her family.
Physical Description
Years of deep grief and malnutrition have seen to it that Brialla hasn't aged well. Her many wrinkles make her look older than she is.
Bad knees make it hard for her to walk long distances.
She dresses in traditional robes and has only worn the
Vincaran mourning color, brown, since her husband's death.
Mental characteristics
She was deeply (obsessively, unhealthily, obnoxiously) in love with her husband and was shameless with public displays of affection.

Young Brialla and Xarax
The defeat and death of her husband at the
Battle of Miantar was the defining moment of Brialla's life. Before that she was hot-headed and petty, but afterward she truly spiraled into madness. She carries on full (if one-sided) conversations with him on a regular basis, sometimes addressing his portrait on her bedroom wall, and other times speaking into thin air. In addition, she also believes the god
Telik has spoken to her a few times to guide her on her quest. Her grasp on reality is tenuous at best, but her mind is still sharp in many ways.
She will stop at nothing to avenge her husband's death, and doesn't care who she has to brainwash, use, betray, or even murder to accomplish her goal.
Personality Characteristics
Since her husband's death, vengeance is Brialla's reason for living. Although Xarax died in battle and was considered a hero by the people of the newly-founded Vincaran Federation, she could only see his demise as a cold-blooded murder by his longtime nemesis, Commander Delzon of the Lanarian Empire. There has always been controversy over the circumstances in which Xarax's ship was destroyed, with some claiming Delzon targeted him while the ship was already foundering and Xarax could not fight back, and others saying that Xarax was attempting to ram a medical ship and Delzon was defending the non-combatants.
Brialla firmly believes that her beloved could do no wrong, of course. Blaming Xarax's death on Delzon at least makes sense, given the information she has, but in her maddened state she extended her ire to Delzon's wife and descendants, as well. She will not be satisfied until every trace of his family is wiped from the face of Kavrillia.
Social
Brialla and
Xarax were married in 4191. Their sons,
Xarox and
Zolar, were born in 4193 and 4195, respectively.
by Katie Sullivan
After the deaths of her sons in a riot in
Shalanera in 4218, she took over raising her two grandchildren,
Xorax and
Zola. Far from a loving caretaker, however, she has sought to mold them into instruments of vengeance with whatever lies, threats, and brainwashing she feels necessary.
She is fanatically devoted to
Telik, the god of war, vengeance and discord, to the point where she ignores the rest of the pantheon--and even resents
Irokori.
History
Xarax and Brialla were the kind of couple who were always using pet names and fawning over each other, making those around them vaguely nauseous. While this starry-eyed honeymoon phase wears off for most couples, they continued to be convinced that no one had ever known a love as deep as theirs. This over-the-top infatuation backfired when Xarax's death left Brialla a broken, unstable shell of her past self.
History
Brialla can be verbally abusive to Xorax one moment, then praising him as Telik's chosen warrior the next. As long as he is obedient and dedicated to her vendetta, he stays on her good side. If he balks too much at her instructions, she is not beyond slapping him.
Grandddaughter (Important)
History
Brialla values traditional Vincaran culture, and urges her granddaughter to dress and behave in more conservative ways. Sometimes Zola doesn't mind (she likes cooking) but other times she rebels (by taking off a layer of robes after she leaves the house). She also knows that Brialla would disapprove of her attraction to women, so she remains closeted. Thanks to Zola's skill in staying on Brialla's good side, they rarely argue.
History
Brialla showed subtle favoritism toward her eldest son, as is common in traditional Vincaran culture. After her husband's death, this got even more noticeable.
Xarox was an obedient son who thought his mother could do no wrong, and tried to live up to the high expectations she heaped on him.
Brialla was never well-to-do, but following the death of her husband (and, later, her sons) she was plunged into poverty.
Their apartment is cramped and poorly maintained.
