Heliopolis

At the very center of Skysong sits its beating heart: Heliopolis. Built around the Great Tree sits the Seat of the Tribune, a massive multi-purpose and sprawling building that serves as a hub for all administrative and governmental needs of the people. There are barracks and training grounds for all associated members of the military police here; while service is voluntary, it is a popular line of work for young adults who haven’t yet found their calling in life, offering stability and a chance to give back to their city through servitude. One of the city’s oldest buildings can be found here — the well-kept and faithfully tended Church of Helios in honor of the Meridian. Zenites are humbly requested not to enter its halls, but are granted free passage through all municipal areas. The attached rectories are numerous and hold the many acolytes hoping to study and deepen their connection to the Meridian. Some convalesce in seclusion and meditation here, dedicating their lives to ascending to join the Meridian and guiding their brothers and sisters through the spiritual plane. It is considered a great honor to be selected for such a role among Meris.

Notable Locations

The Seat of the Tribune is a high towering marble and gold building with the branches of an enormous tree protruding from its midst. It is visible from all areas of the city as its highest point. The Tribune is also where characters’ default housing is located. When characters Harmonize to Meridian, they’ll be offered free, dorm-style housing in the Tribune as well as a retainer. The retainer is a person who is assigned to take care of a Shard-Bearer's needs (such as obtaining clothing, helping orient them, etc.), and they do so voluntarily. If a character chooses to have a retainer, this NPC is free for the player to make up!
