The Tomes

On the western side of the city sits the Tomes, a collection of libraries that have slowly grown to amass a small fortune of knowledge. Painstakingly catalogued and sorted by both genre, subject, and world reference, the Tomes contain a detailed archive on an impressively broad number of topics — and while a great majority are non-fiction, there is a certain section dedicated to “indulgences.”
In these aisles, one might find books penned by Highstorm's natives across various stages of their lives; there are fairy tales and folklore collections sitting alongside saucy romance novels and space operas. Perhaps some of the tales found within might strike a familiar chord… but surely it’s a coincidence. Best not to worry about it.

Notable Locations

The cafe on one street corner nearest the Tomes is a must-see. The barista cannot speak, but through Communion can read your Shard according to the signage above the counter.
Should you present your Shard for reading, the barista will offer you a customized beverage unique to you in an innocuous cup. This beverage is said to reflect your spirit — and once drained of its contents, will display your fortune on the bottom of the cup. Only you can see what it says.
