Personal history
Little is known about Jourok's upbringing, only that he enlisted amongst the Baron's Own Militia in Riverhaven as a sailor sometime around his 14th birthday, in 184AV. He served as a crewman on the clipper Tyrnok until 190, when he jumped ship on the Isle of Ratha.
He met Jomay on Ratha during one of his liberty trips, and they were subsequently married sometime after jumping ship in 190.
Jourok and his wife served aboard several pirate crews, working their way to captaincy of a captured Ilithi frigate named Dynamo, until Jomay was killed in 199AV by pirate hunters from River Crossing .
In retaliation for the death of his wife, Jourok sent messengers to many of the barbaric tribes of orcs, ogres, and goblins living to the west of the city in an attempt to unify them under his banner. He failed in this ideal, but did manage to rally them under the flag of his new-found friend, Naark , the self-proclaimed Ogre King.
Coordinating with Naark , the two struck in a multi-layered attack against the city, with forces of the Ogres invading by land via the western and northern city gates while Jourok and his Red Sash Pirates simultaneously blockaded the harbor and cut off vital trade.
Their surprise assault against River Crossing was launched on the holiday of New Year's, catching the guards and citizens completely by surprise. This blockade and invading army ran rampant for nine months, until Naark was slain and the land forces fled in disarray.
Fearing capture and imprisonment, Jourok broke the blockade and scattered his remaining fleet in a desperate bid to evade the mounting naval forces of Zoluren, as well as the reinforcing fleet from Therengia which threatened to cut off his retreat.
Many of the pirates and their vessels were killed or captured, but Jourok escaped to his hidden bay, where he continues to launch raids and harass shipping to this day.
