Dumog
Government
The Naval Council sees to the day-to-day operation of local government at the direction of the Utepavir, who rules on behalf of the R̂oldavus.
Defences
Dumog has no defensive walls. A series of small, stone towers, about thirty feet in height ring the outer structures of the city. These small towers are set around one hundred fifty feet apart. Their purpose is not to serve as bastions of any kind, but as watchtowers only.
Infrastructure
Streets
The primary streets of the city, which are Straight Street, Harbor Way, and Coast Street, are all fifty feet wide and well paved with standone flags. The secondary streets are similarly paved and around twenty feet in width. The many tertiary streets are around ten feet in width and are covered in a mix of lime and seashells, which creates a durable, if rough, paved surface. Alleyways and neighborhood walks are sandy mud.
Sanitation
Dumog boast excellent sanitation. Stone-lined open sewers run down the center of the three primary streets, and smaller stone-lined feeder sewers run along the edges of the secondary streets, emptying into them. The city employs around two dozen "cleaners" whose job is to patrol this system of sewers and magically clean them daily, as well as clean dirt and debris from the streets.
Lighting
Dumog boasts that it is the "Shining Light of the Artia Strand." This is because it has a formal system of street lighting. The primary and secondary streets are lit, at an interval of every twenty-five feet, by a system of oil lanterns on bronze stands. The "Illuminators," a bureau of city workers, are responsible for filling and lighting these lanterns nightly. For oil, the city uses a variety of oil collected from the intresigusfish, which live in large numbers in the adjacent waters of the Avcabun Sea, and which make up a significant portion of the Cultecci diet, anyway. The tax expenditure to provide this lighting is significant, but it is easily covered by the port duties that the city collects.
Dumog Harbor
The city boasts a well-developed harbor with a large wharf. The wharf is home to a significant shipyard, the harmormaster's office, and twelve stone quays for commercial shipping. Beyond the wharf a series of wooden piers jut into the Avcabun to service the many fishing boats that dock there.
Set on an artifical island three hundred yards out to sea, a seventy-foot tall limestone lighthouse provides a beacon to ships.
Points of interest
Dumog features major temples in honor of Provimus, Cisquia, and Tirelva. Additinally, there are smaller shrines to Serens, Strubius, Seleda, Cibla, and even one to the elder god Iurxedavrus.
Architecture
Most structures in Dumog are constructed of plank and timber. The temples and government buildings, as well as the wharf and its quays are built from limestone.
