The Factory

The factory is located south of Taccage Village. It is the production facility where the Mist makes Dragondust.

Geography

The Factory

  1. Guarded Entrance. This is the entrance that the street toughs usually use to bring workers into the camp. There will be a single thug outside, and another in area 1a (Encounter: The Front Guard). Passive perception is 10.
  2. The Workers' Camp. This are is empty right now. There are three large "dormitory" tents for workers. In the central area, there is a campfire and equipment for preparing soup for a large group.
  3. The Thugs' Quarters. This is the dormitory for the street thugs. With the press gang gone, there are 24 total thugs still in camp. There will be five in the downstairs mess, lounging around during daylight hours (Factory Dorm Day). During hours of darkness, the mess area is empty, but all 18 will be upstairs sleeping (Factory Dorm Night). The upstairs has a total of 61 gold, 620 silver and 112 copper spread out under mattresses, hidden in shoes, etc.
  4. The Baking Floor. This open area features four large, clay kilns where Chaqadø's feces is baked until dry. There is also a large pile of moist dragon dung. The area is otherwise empty.
  5. Guarded Entrance. This entrance is guarded day or night (The Wagon Entrance). There will be two toughs in front of the gate and their leader inside at 5a. If they make noise, two more toughs from are 6 will respond. There is a set of cards, 29 coppers, 4 silver, and a polished hematite in the shape of a diamond worth 10 gp on the table.
  6. Bunkroom. Two bandit guards (Bunkroom), who are only present if they didn't respond to noise at 5, above. There is 1 platinum coin hidden under a mattress (DC 13 Investigation).
  7. Warehouse and Scout Barracks. The ground floor of this structure is an open warehouse. Inside there are six crates of Dragondust, each weighing about 40 pounds. The second floor is where the Mist's scouts live. During daylight hours, there are only two scouts (Scout Barracks Day). At night, there are six (Scout Barracks Night).
  8. Stable. This structure is the stable. During the day, two toughs are tending the four draft horses (Stable). At night, there are only the draft horses present.
  9. Mill Room. This is where workers bring the dried dragon feces and grind it to dust. Currently, the room is empty.
  10. Entrance to the Crypts. This is the entrance to the subterranean crypts where Tonax and his lieutenants live. It is always guarded. There will be two veterans inside the door, two bandits outside the door, and their leader, Kert Hairyfeet, a furtan assassin, hides in the far corner. On Kert's body, the party will find a potion of greater healing, a ruby worth 800 gp, and a note (Furtan's note).
  11. Chaqadø's Enclosure.
    You see a huge creature, but a pathetic one. A black dragon moves about this stone enclosure, chained at two points. It's wings droop and drag along the ground and massive scars mar its once-majestic scales at the shoulders. Smaller, jagged scars are visible just beneath its jaw, where the head joins the neck. It looks at you and quietly says something in Draconic.
    If anyone speaks Draconic, they can converse with Chaqadø, whose greeting was, "What brings you to my filthy prison?" Chaqdø can spill all the tea. He knows Tonax works for someone named Ar̂celiba, something even more powerful than a true vampire and with dominion and authority over them. Tonax loves and fears her. He, of course, knows that his shit is being dried and ground up to make Dragondust.
