The Dytí were refugees from a far land somewhere to the west, but the details of their homeland have been lost. Evidence suggests that the Dytí were fled from a catastrophe that took place in their homeland. It is estimated by scholars of the Apokryfis that close to a 100 000 people landed on the shores of Elwe in the span of only 15 years. This number would swell the decades after, until in about 50 PT, the Dytí were likely the most numerous Ethnic group in the south of Elwe. These people founded the modern Republic of Elwe, and the Dytí make up its majority.
The Dytí now make up the largest ethnic and cultural group in Elwe by a long shot. Though most Dytí are humans, about 90 percent, some original settlers were Tieflings. These Tieflings were the first of their kind on the continent of Elwe. Other prominent Dytí minorities are Dwarves, Elves, Halflings, Satyrs, Kenku, and Aarakokra.
The Weallanders
The Weallanders were originally a group of humans that hailed from the far East. As they migrated west and settled the mostly empty plains of Wesfin, they developed a maratime culture and became renowned raiders and traders. Weallanders, more than the Dytí and especially Fachfordians, are primarily humans. The biggest Weallander minority race, are dwarves, though of course like with any other culture, all races can be found in Weallander settlements. Weallanders founded what is now one of the largest cities in the world, Wédon. The city of Wédon grew so powerful and wealthy, that it founded colonies all across the known world, which themselves grew rich and powerful, and split off and made colonies of their own. This time period, now known as the Weallander Period, saw many wars fought between Weallander settlers and native peoples.
Weallanders ousted the Fachfordian populations in the north of Elwe, and shrunk the dominions of Dwarves and Elves in Estomi and Notos. The Triton of the Cæp Isles were nearly wiped out by the Weallanders, and most retreated back into the seas.
In the current day, Weallanders are the largest human culture in terms of population. Weallander people are in the majority in Northern Elwe, Notos, and Western Estomí. Only in Southern Elwe and Northern Estomi, the Dytí and Zimnak peoples respectively, do other human groups dominate the demographics. Modern Weallanders are split between the Lower (or Southern) Weallanders in the Cæp isles, Estomi, and mainland Notos, and the Higher (or Northern) Weallanders, who inhabit the Northern Subcontinent of Elwe, Welond.
The Fachfordians
The Fachfordians were one the largest populations of people in the south of Elwe at the time of the Dytí migrations. Though their number had been greatly reduced by the Weallander invasions over the preceding centuries. The Fachfordians are the oldest human Ethnicity, perhaps already populating the lands of Elwe during the wars of Elves and Dwarves 10000 years ago. Most noteable Fachfordir kingdoms fell during the ascension of Aster, namely Hynadeyr. Though Fachfordians still live peacefully under Asterian rule, most live in the Fachfordir kingdoms of Byr and Astyny, which used to be part of Hynadeyr, but were spared Asterian conquest. Now they remain there, clinging to existence on the edge of the world.
Only about a third of Fachfordians are Humans, another third are halflings and gnomes, and the remaining third is comprised of Harengon, Tabaxi, Tortles, Changelings, Centaurs, Bugbears, Firbolgs, Genasis, Minotaurs, Orcs, Lizardfolk, and more. The Fachfordians, as is obvious, are very diverse. Many of these races were driven from their lands by the multiple human migrations of the past. Though many states like Aster and Zimnakraj accept all races, none are as equal and kind to all races as the Fachfordian nations.
The Zimnak
The Zimnak people are the second oldest human group in the known world. The first Zimnaks settled the lands of current day Zimnakraj some 2000 years ago. And 1500 years ago, the Zimnak Capital, Duza, was founded. The kingdom of Zimnakraj is one of the oldest existing states in the known world, only beaten by the ancient Dwarven and Elven realms. About 60 % of Zimnaks are human, Orcs and Elves make up 30%, and the remaining 10% is a mix of Goliaths, Firbolgs, Hobgoblins, Dragonborn and Kenku.
The Dwarves of Glachtir are, as far as they know, the last remaining Dwarven state in the world. more than 10000 years ago, before the wars of Dwarves and Elves, Dwarven kingdoms ruled most of Estomi. But both Dwarves and Elves were almost destroyed in their centuries long war. Glachtir, once a minor province of a much greater Dwarven kingdom, was the last Dwarven holdout to fall to the Alliance of Elves and the Ancestors of the Zimnak peoples. They were left with a tiny barren land that they enhabit now. None but Dwarves are allowed to inhabit these lands, which doesn't aid their declining population.
The High Elves
The High Elves of Uainmor are the last Elven kingdom on Estomi. Before the war of Dwarves and Elves, the Elves were united under one banner, living in the forests of Fuscus and Notos. Their homeland Fuscus, was attacked by the Dwarves, and the Elves prayed to their gods for revenge. It was delivered, as Fuscus was utterly destroyed by the Wrath of Tuma and Raka, it still remains cursed. The High Elves were not sated, and fought a centuries long war of revenge against the Dwarves, driving them to the edge of ruin along with themselves. For a long time, the Elves were resurgent, creating a new, peaceful and wealthy kingdom in Uainmor with the help of Zimnakraj. This Silver Age was brutally ended by the Great Calamity, and the subsequent East Asterian Invasions.
The Wood Elves
Not much is known about the Wood-Elves of Notos to the Scholars of Aster. They control the great woods of Notos, and call their realm Rawaou. The only contact they had with the outside world was through the City of Brymham, which they failed to save from destruction. A destruction, which many point to, was likely caused by acursed Veins of Fuscus, which was cursed by what many see as Elven Gods. It is unlikely that there are more than 20 000 woodelves left, and their number is dwindling.
