Kray-Maven
the world
Kray and Maven are the two names given to our world. The elves gave it the name Maven, which means mother, and the dwarves give it the name Kray, which means stone, rock. Humans gave her the name of the goddess of nature, Elistea, before adopting the composite name Kray-Maven. Among the Rakri, the name prema Inme, meaning the primal heart, exists in literature but is rarely used orally. The Orc shamans, in their sacred rites, simply call it Mother Nature, Mal Nakashg. No one was foolish enough to ask the Shalzaks for it, but the dragons call it Al'Akash, the primordial egg, and according to their own claims, they enforced it on the Shalzaks.
Geography
Kray-Maven is a planet, composed mainly of ocean, with three main continents: Naredim, charted north-east on maps is the main continent of the world; Az'atmas, charted south-west, is a continent where climate, seismic and volcanic activities are chaotic and does not respect any natural rules, the inside of the continent is therefore uncharted. The third continent, Boros, is an iced continent at the North Pole of the planet, of which not much is known if that it's populated by white bears, penguins, giants and mammoths.
Kray-Maven, along with the rest of the system of planets revolving around the Helian star, are part of a vast universe, about which little is known, however, current astronomical research, particularly that of dwarves, suggests that there are at least five other planets, some stranger than others but all uninhabitable. This universe is anchored in reality, what is called in magical circles, a plane of existence. The fall proved to us that there are other realities, or fragments of reality, which are propagated in a fabric called the ethereal veil and which the Athrians call the oneiric web.
The oneiric web in itself constitutes the matrix in which all the dreams, thoughts and imagination of thinking beings take substance, in the form of a bubble of hypothetical, often ephemeral realities. There are, however, common dreams, such as religion, which are so persistent that they become stable planes. This is the case of the divine plane of the sea of the astral aurora of humans, or the demons of the vampire religion.
Ecosystem
The planet is mainly constituted of saline water, the ocean, of which not much is known, as no sentient species have yet the technology to dive deep and study its mechanic. the continent of Boros is entirely covered in Ice, no vegetation lies here, and some carnivorous animals, adapted to water and very cold climates lives here.
The continent of Naredim is separated in a different region, south of it have a more warm and humid, temperate climate. Northern regions tend to have more cold and dry climate, except for the land of Rakrel, that is more humid, legend even says everlasting fog wrap the land.
Az'atmas geography is unknown to Naredimian, only coastlines have been charted, and therefore, the ecosystem is officially reduced to dragon, Shalzak and supposedly some creatures similar to akeidre fauna.
Ecosystem Cycles
Kray-Maven has one moon, revolving around it in thirty-two days, which correspond to one month of the calendar. The planet revolves around the sun in three hundred and eighty-four days, twelve months. Kray-Maven spin at twenty-four hours per turn, giving a day.
Localized Phenomena
Az'atmas is forever cursed with chaotic climate, not respecting any normal laws, even seismic activities make the continent change shape regularly.
The desert situated west of Meridia, which is part of Alkalia, is not natural, but is the consequence of a spell made by a very powerful witch. The only remaining city's ruins, Riadretahn, is forever locked in the eye of a maelstrom, made by an Elzia, trying to counter the witch.
It is not known, and only theorized, that the fog covering Rakrel is itself not a natural phenomenon; however no divinities or powerful entity have been identified as responsible.
History
The world as it was known at one time changed radically as a result of a great event that happened about 1,300 years ago, called the Fall. This 'fall' brought magic, many strange creatures, and above all, a people of elemental beings called the Athrians.
