Paramenthia

Paramenthia is the capital of Adura and ancestral home of The Aduran Royal Family.   The town has a proud history, having been the birthplace of the first Regina.

Different Areas of Paramenthia

The Silver Grove
The Silver Grove is a series of sacred trees and pathways. It's a beautiful garden teeming with animals sacred to the gods and goddesses temples that are housed within the grove, and the grove itself is sacred to Eliwyn.

The Lamplight District
So named for the candles and lanterns lit by artists that refuse to stop work even as the sun sets, the Lamplight District is the center of commerce and the arts within Paramenthia. Anything that can be bought, sold or traded can be found here.

The Painted Steps
The carved stone steps leading into the city, through its streets, and into Chromalour are inset with stones painted different colors to create mosaic designs that have long since had the color rubbed off. But the images can still be made out, and children often paint the stones with watered down paint that will wash away in the next rain, creating their own ideas of how the original designs must have looked.   While the Painted Steps are merely a single street through the city, many locals use it to describe the area around the steps as well. Most businesses found here cater to travelers, whether it be inns, taverns, livery, or hunting supplies.   Eilene's Schol
A mix of magical and mundane, physical and mental, Eilene's Schol is named after Regina Eilene, who founded Adura as it is known in present time. The district is a place of learning. Not only do the magically inclined have tutors and an academy, but there are also schools of martial training and universities for those who are more of the intellectual sort. The only thing that is not found in the schol are trade schools, which are housed within the Lamplight District.

  Glimmerstone Ward
The name is deceptively whimsical. The Glimmerstone Ward is the home of the military and prison - the name itself comes from the white quartz used to build the streets and buildings within the district. It's polished by the young soldiers and prisoners until the sun glimmers off the stone with such blinding brilliance that attackers would never be able to see the Aduran soldiers rushing them until it was too late.

Architecture

Smooth wood is bent into gently curving shapes and most archways (both in and outside) form lancet arches. Doors are uncommon inside homes but some citizens (especially those from other countries) insist on having some semblance of locking mechanisms/privacy on their buildings or in their homes. Wood and stone are the primary building tools and are carefully carved and bent into the properly, gently sloping shapes. If any metal is used (which is not often), silver or similar metals are used and polished until they shine.

Geography

Paramenthia is a mountainous town, with rivers of water from the top of the Viridi Mountains cascading down and through the city proper. The city is built out and away from the cliff face itself, some buildings and walkways even dangling over the miles-long fall to the valley floor.
