Star Moit (ˈstär ˈmȯit)
The Star Moit appears as a warped chunk of burnt stone about a foot and a half long and is suspected of being a "skymetal".
General
First Star Moit
The moit is one of four artifacts that Auren Vrood was searching for in order to free the Whispering Tyrant. Vrood sent the stone to Carrion Hill with the Dark Riders where it was to be exchanged for the Pnakotic Manuscript. When the Fellowship first encountered it, they found it in Dr. Crove's office at the Crove Asylum and had been made to appear as a skull. It seemed to have been used as some sort of spell component for divination magic. It was later used by Lorrimor to imprison the Spawn of Yog-Sothoth, upon which it returned to its true appearance.Star Moit Fragments
While in Thrushmoor, Kyrrn attempted to use agonizing despair on Ravisterr, the proprietor of New Chapter Bookstore. However, instead of suffering from the spell's effects, the cultist's head exploded. It was later determined that he had fragments of stone resembling the star moit embedded in his brain.Second Star Moit
It was later determined that there was a second star moit. This fragment was carried by the Dark Rider that journeyed to Illmarsh, however it was taken from him by the Cult of Dagon. The cult then released the Colour Out of Space that was held within it, but whether they intended this or not is unknown.Significance
Possible component of the Carrion CrownSkymetals
Metals from distant planets and fallen stars are known as skymetals. These metals are extremely rare and very expensive, such that the impact of a meteoroid can cause gold rush-style events. There are seven known skymetals, each with its own particular properties.Abysium
Abysium is a blue-green stone that glows and has a great deal of energy to be found within it. It also sickens those who spend time around it. Abysium is rumored to have certain mystical properties, as portals to the realm known as the Dark Tapestry made of the toxic metal have been found in ancient caves below Absalom. It can also be ground into a powder and distilled to concentrate its poisonous effects.Adamantine
Adamantine is the most common skymetal. It is sometimes known as "Numerian steel" after the land where the largest known deposits are found. It is so tough that it often survives the brutal entry through Golarion's atmosphere. Weapons made of adamantine are incredibly hard and durable, able to cut through almost any material with ease. It is also often fashioned into incredibly dense, protective armor.Orichalcum
Orichalcum, sometimes known as horacalcum, the rarest of skymetals, is a coppery, sturdy metal said to bend time around it. While prohibitively expensive, armor made from orichalcum reputedly slows the wearer's perception of time.
