Haunted House

From Wizards of the Coast's Ghosts of Saltmarsh Chapter 2, the Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh
A haunted mansion stands four miles east of Saltmarsh. Long host to an alchemist with a sinister reputation, twenty years ago the house was suddenly abandoned. Non knew why - but even without the strange magician, the house has been regarded as a place to avoid by the townsfolk of Saltmarsh. What few people who have occasionally entered the house (often seeking rumors of the alchemist's gold) have only returned with tales of a dilapidated and decaying manner housing monstrous perils.

Architecture

Made of local redwood and crowned with a gabled roof of slate shingles the house is now in great disrepair. It's roof has holes, it's windows are broken, and it's garden is overgrown. The once impressive building has become but a monument to how the wilds reclaim all that mankind creates.

History

Decades ago, an alchemist comissioned the house to be built so he could privately study is craft within it. In 194 IA, the Alchemist mysteriously vanished. Nearly twenty years later, Sanbalets Gang of smugglers took the house over as a front for their smuggling operations, working in tandem with the Sea Ghost. After the actions of The Party, Sanbalet was dealt with, and the Alchemist - now undead - reclaimed his abode as his own.
