Abbey of St Andrada

Some of the inspiration and details are derived from Colombia Games and the Hârn Religion Team (HRT) Archive.

The Abbey of St Andrada, located six miles west of the City of Aleath just outside the Hamlet of Kostim is the only Hârnic Priory belonging to the secretive Argent Order.

Appearing as a typical Abbey of the Order of Hyvik, it has an important role in the Church of Larani. It is the headquarters and training center of the Argent Order dedicated to combating the forces of evil, specifically Morgath, Naveh and all manner of undead and demons.

Assets

Funding

Although the Abbey appears well-maintained but modest, it is well-resourced. Funds from the Larani Church, the King, and donations from the laity ensure that its defenses are sound and members are well equipped for their tasks.

Chapel of St Andrada

This Chapel is dedicated to the founder of the Orders Hârnic Chapter, St Andrada. His Silver Sword Azure Flame adorns the shrine, held in the hands of a statue of the Goddess.

Here, members of the Order or a close Larani worshiping allies perform the Vigil of St Andrada.

Hall of Swords

This training hall's roof is lined with Swords representing past members of the Order. A large book, The Chronicle, records their heroic deeds, the swords they wielded, and in most cases, deaths.

Archives

The archives date back to the dark days of the Theocracy of Tekhos plus newer volumes donated from allies or "liberated" from the enemy.

Supply Workshop

This room has Alchemy and Herbalism laboratories and a font for the creation of holy water. Additionally, in storage are a collection of disguises, potions, and traveling gear that a member may need.

Dormitories

The Abbey has male and female dormitories with enough accommodation for 20 members or close associates. The nearby village of Kostim has the Silver Wolf Inn, part-owned by the Order.

The Vault

This well-warded room has an array of magical and conventional traps, with its stone floor inlaid with silver symbols and mystical patterns. Secure stone cabinets hold many dangerous artifacts and books. The Order's Casket of Transference is stored in this room.

Exorcism ceremonies are often carried out in this room.

Alterations

The Abbey is sanctified and holy ground. Fiends, Elementals, Fey, and undead are unable to enter. Dead bodies cannot be turned undead, all worshipers of Larani are immune to fear and have resistance to Poison and Necrotic Damage.

History

632TR - The Hârnic Chapter of the Order is founded. King Andasin I donates land in Kostim as well as the funding to build and support the Abbey.

726TR - The Abbey is attacked by over 50 Company of Dead Men soldiers disguised as royal soldiers, as well as a cunningly used undead component. Fortunately for the defenders, the Chapterhouse was forewarned of the attack and was able to repulse it with the assistance of a nearby Order of the Checkered Shield reinforcements. Many Argent Order members died in the defense and protect local villages at Kostim Hamlet.

Vigil of St Andrada

St Andrada was the founder of the Hârnic chapter of the Argent Order famous for routing out Morgathic cults in the newly formed Kingdom of Kanday. He died leading a squad against a Navean Temple hidden in Aleath.

Blessing

Succeeding on a DC 18 Religion Check will enhance the fighting skill and holy zeal of any warrior of Larani. A member of the Argent Order has advantage on this check.

When fighting the minions of Morgath or Naveh, the Warrior's Sword gains a +1 bonus to hit and damage for the duration of the battle.

Alternatively, as a bonus action when turning Undead, the Warrior empowers the turn with a silvery glow from his Talisman of St. Lucidin. Undead make their saving throw to resist at disadvantage. This blessing can be used three times.

Silver Swords

The Argent Order has an alliance with Clan Hazadul, a Dwarven weapon crafting family in the Kingdom of Azadmere. Kirinza Hazadul has forged weapons for the Order since the Hârnic chapter was founded in 623TR after St Andrada saved his clan from some Darkness never to be spoken of not long after arriving on the Hârnic Isle. He uses secret techniques that merge Silver and Steel's layers into a tough and sharp blade. One side of the Blades has his stamp, and the other has the sword's name inscribed in Tezri.

The Swords are transported, via the Casket of Transference, to an identical Casket located in the Chapterhouse of the Order in Areshomes in the Kingdom of Trierzon where the Larani Pontiff consecrates them.

Casket of Transference
