Mateus

Mateus is a gold-toothed dwarf, who works for the venture company settling on Obica.

Before Obica

Mateus killed a man at 13. He doesn't like to talk about it. Mateus has always found employment as an adventurer. He used his many travels to marry at least 2 women (that he remembers), and has had at least 6 children, but he admits there are probably more he doesn't know about. He is probably Macaria's father. Can't disprove it.

On Obica

Mateus has a 3 month agreement to work with the new adventurer's to try and find a place for a second settlement on Obica. Mateus is an accomplished ranger and hunter. He plans much of the team's expeditions out into the wild areas around Twin Fingers, and is a expert at navigating the landscape. Mateus's favorite thing about being on Obica is the constant supply of delicious fatty meat. He is probably going to have a heart attack. The party is concerned. Mateus's second favorite thing about Obica is ALL THE LADIES, but so far has only been caught flirting with Taes and Madame Sofia. He is very very afraid of ghosts, which is super bad because death doesn't work great on Obica. During a diplomatic mission to make contact with the elves, Mateus had a really great day. He had a fancy spa day with his friend Heferth Stockwell, got a full body waxing, and had a long carriage ride to the elf palace with an open bar. That evening, while asleep in his bed, Mateus was murdered by a ghost. Because he died within the elf kingdom, his spirit is likely trapped in the Soul Catch in the Necropolis. Nel discovered his body, and Macaria put him in the Bag of Holding to keep his corpse safe while they escaped the palace. Godgil Jadehewer took the corpse back into the Kingdom of the Hollylin Wood to present to King Cien as evidence that the Ghost Council was trying to assassinate the delegation. When Godgil fled for his life with Nath and Prince Rhys, he left the corpse behind.
