As a child, her family lived in Quebec, and she attended a French-speaking school.
Like her brother Alan Deaton, she was raised as a Druid, and began training to be an Emissary in childhood. In 2001, after recieving her undergraduate degree, she was began an apprenticeship with the Emissary to Deucalion's Pack.
After Deucalion killed his surviving pack members and his emissary, he offered her the opportunity to become his new Emissary, provided she did not interfere with his plans to begin a war with the Hunter Clans.
After recieving her Masters in Psychology and completing the field-work required to be a registered councillor, she took a job at Beacon Hills High as the guidance councillor and French teacher.
She was instrumental in the Darach Murders, as it was her who told Jennifer Blake that Deucalion would be in Beacon Hills during the full moon. She was also the one who proposed using members of the Hale-McCall Pack as proxy-sacrifices. She did this in service of her goal of restoring the California Nemeton, as she believed this was her duty as a Druid.
