Stampsa

The Province of Stampsa is a grim and desolate land, a puppet nation under the dominion of the Kingdom of Mordred. Previously a territory of the Kingdom of Astaroth, Stampsa has long been a battleground, witnessing countless wars between Astaroth and its rival, the Kingdom of Gaelem along with Hispania. These wars were so ferocious and frequent that the sheer number of casualties began to taint the earth, resulting in the creation of the infamous Marshes of Death. This vast marshland is littered with the remains of fallen warriors, remnants of ruined kingdoms, and all manner of undead creatures, making it a haunting and dangerous region.

During the Black Rebellion, Stampsa briefly tasted freedom but was quickly subdued and absorbed by King Mordred. About 80% of Stampsa's territory is comprised of the Marshes of Death, an area teeming with zombies, skeletons, and Vampires, rendering it uninhabitable for the living. The once-lush and fertile lands of Stampsa have been transformed into a barren wasteland. The people of Stampsa have abandoned their villages, and only one city, Maestir, remains populated.

Stampsa serves as a crucial buffer state between Mordred and its western enemies, but it is extremely poor in resources and wealth. The province is at the mercy of Mordred, unable to rise above its dire circumstances as long as its lands remain desolate. The landscape is mostly flat, dominated by millions of dead trees and a few mountains. Cutting through the center of Stampsa is the massive Gondar River, providing a lifeline of drinking water to the sparse population that endures in the capital city. Despite this, the overwhelming presence of the undead and the tainted land ensure that Stampsa remains a bleak and forlorn region, forever at the beck and call of its Mordredian overlords.

In the province of Stampsa, faith has been a deeply personal and localized aspect of life. The people have traditionally worshipped a pantheon of local deities, drawing their spiritual sustenance from the natural world and the spirits they believed inhabited it. However, the Mordredian conquest has drastically altered the religious landscape of Stampsa. Under the rule of their Mordredian overlords, the bloody faith of Morr- God of Blood, has been forcibly imposed upon the Stampsian people. This imposition is a stark departure from their traditional beliefs, replacing their local deities with the fearsome worship of Morr. The churches and sacred sites that once honored their native gods have been repurposed into places of worship for Morr, symbolizing the dominance of their conquerors.

The faith of Morr, with its emphasis on blood, war, murder, and sacrifice, is a severe contrast to the gentler, more nature-focused spirituality of the Stampsians. The people are compelled to participate in the rituals and ceremonies of the Blood God, often under the watchful eye of Mordredian priests and soldiers. This religious transformation is part of the broader strategy of control exercised by Mordred, ensuring that even the spiritual lives of the Stampsians are under his dominion. The forced conversion to the faith of Morr has not been without resistance. Many Stampsians continue to hold their traditional beliefs in secret, clinging to the old ways despite the dangers of defiance. The imposed faith has created a deep-seated resentment and a sense of loss among the people, as they are coerced into abandoning their ancestral gods for the brutal worship of Morr.
