Erzherzogtem of Hesse
The most cosmopolitan and populace palatinate, Hesse is located in the center of Wetterau. This location makes it a very prominent trade hub for northeastern Serrus. Some of the greatest scientists thinkers have come from Hesse and it is also has the greatest concentration of
Philosophic Ametrianist on Serrus. In addition, the best generals and tacticians are trained at one of Hesse’s many war colleges and academies.
Hesse has many natural borders to demarcate its territory. To the north, the Gutig Inlet sits calmly. To the west and south, the river Mitter separates the palatinate from Kernig and Bargo. To the east, the river Klein divides Hesse from Braulan. All these natural borders have led to Hesse being a very easily defensible location and only foolish individuals would ever think of attacking it.
There are two forests which lie within the borders of Hesse, the Mittewald and the Ostwald. Neither of these woods is particularly dense, but the Ostwald is rumored to be rife with bandits ready to prey upon the lucrative trade traffic passing through Hesse.
Structure
This palatinate is run as a grand duchy run by a hereditary Grossherzog, or Grand Duke. Typically, the Grand Duke rules by aid of his cabinet of advisors, but it is an absolute monarchy and the Grand Duke has the final word. The Grand Duke of Hesse typically and currently holds the title of Kaiser.
