Wildgraftshaft of Bargo

Bargo is located on the southwestern edge of Wetterau bordering Frisia. It is most well known for its lowlands and rolling hills that give rise to some of the best horse rearing on Serrus. This area is known as the Gestelfeld region and it covers most of Bargo. The other main feature of Bargo is the western Nachtwald forest. It is a dense wood said to be haunted by spirits. No one ventures too deep into it. Travelers that have entered it said that the canopy is so dense in some places that almost no light shines through.   Bargo’s population is mostly spread out in small homesteads on the Gestelfeld. Even the cities and towns are sparsly populated. Some cosmopolitan individuals of other palatinates joke that there are more horses than people in Bargo. It is also a common misconception that if you were raised in Bargo that you know how to ride a horse. While the Hessen people of Bargo are proud of their equine heritage, many do take offense to the stereotypes given to them.

Structure

Bargo has always been headed by a family of influential horse merchants elevated to noble status. During the inception of the Stadts of Wetterau, Bargo was almost assimilated into other palatines, but was given the right to become its own due to the prominent horse trade. This is when the title of Wildgraf was created. The title of “Wildgraf” describes their vast open tracts of fields and rolling hills where fine breeds of horses are raised. The title shifts from time to time as newer and more prominent merchants rise to power economically and politically.
