Grafshaft of Wursten
Long before the formal Stadts of Wetterau took shape, the people of Wursten were known for their proficient cooking, especially their sausages. The Schwein Hills to the south have always been a lucrative location to raise the Wetterau Brown Boar. These aggressive beasts are tough to rear and even tougher to make into good sausage. The people of Wursten have perfected it over the years and are renown all over Serrus for their great pork recipes.
The culinary pursuits have always interested the people of Wursten and it is tough to find anyone, man, woman, or child there that doesn’t at least know a little bit about cooking and many affluent nobles all over Serrus have personal cooks from Wursten serving them. With the recent discovery of Oudeland, many new dishes have been concocted by the people of Wursten with the plethora of spices being imported to Serrus. Within Wursten is also an area known as the “Einsam”. This remote stretch of lone villages and homesteads in the Schwein Hills isn’t near any town or city hub. Some call this the lawless area of Wetterau. Due to its isolated area, each village has their own laws, some bordering on frontier justice and vigilantism.
Structure
This palatinate is ruled by a Graf, or Count and his family. The Graf has the ear of the other nobles of Wursten, but like in Hesse, the Graf has the final word. Typically the Graf is required to survey his lands personally, so he is well known by the people. This practice is for keeping the Graf honest since the people know him and he cannot send
his lackeys to do his dirty work alone.
