Session 21: It's Glorbin' Time
General Summary
This downtime session found us devoting time to building our home in the settlement granted by Ourelios Heia Eefissa, as well as our relationships...for better or worse.
- The group took a trip to the Scriptorium Soiram to refresh their studies related to all the juicy revelations of the last plot arc. Amanita Guttata came away with some tomes about enhancing their necro-fungal constructs; Kitanya Evermoon did her best (emphasis on her best) to research more about the moons (with help from accomplished library-crawler Wynnie Bishop, who walked away with a stack of tomes about the different gods and their interactions and ALEK51 ...well...
- ALEK went to do a routine brain dump of the work he'd brought from Sadora Rowa, only to find that not only was he able to unload everything he'd collected but also that, due to this and advancements in shard technology, its contract was being closed as complete. Being a creature with a very narrow vision of his purpose in life, this left the Warforged with quite a crisis of identity, entering a vaguely comatose dissociative state and needing shuffled kindly place to place like a brainiac roomba for a while. (He also finds himself with an inferiority complex when he realizes they have a Shardmind named Amaku running the place, since Shardminds are if you made a Warforged out of crystal specifically to store information.)
- L0L4 received a note from Marigold that Warmhearted Cold Metal wanted to give some updates on their search for her history. (It was decided to bring ALEK along, less for L0L4 this time and more to help the former maybe find some purpose.) This visit happens next session.
- While at the Scriptorium, Wynnie also runs into an old contact from her scholar days, Fari Rubyminer, a bubblegum pink Evocation arcanist who perhaps ruffles Wynnie's fur a bit but at least there's a promise of some potential later inventions for the group to try out as a result of the encounter. The two exchange contact info.
- Num Erik Al took it upon himself to invest his lost-hometown trauma in Settlement Building, dedicating himself to being the Project Manager running the setup of the initial compound the party would live in. This included a large amount of mother henning, wherein the gnome stubbornly chased people around pushing them to tell him what they really needed in a home. (This included Khashayar Entezami, who had imposter syndrome telling them that xie didn't belong in the settlement and hadn't earned it, and thus had to be pushed to commit to such frivolities as, say, the type of bed they actually wanted. Oh and a stick sack for all of xier chewing sticks. Big spender.) The settlement, still unnamed at this point, is decided to have most people getting their own places, such as Amanita in the basement with their spores, with a shared common area as well. (Wynnie and Kitanya decide to share a space, neither too big on living alone at the moment.)
- Speaking of the settlement, while there Khashayar Entezami receives a disconcerting gift basket from someone from their past: a Say-it-With-Shrooms delivery that conveys undertones of longing and missing someone but also bitter disappointment, loss, and anger. This complicated love letter sends Zami into a panic, especially since the letter accompanying it merely says that the sender will 'see them soon.' This is not just an empty threat, considering the person knew where to send the package, thus somehow has tracked Zami's location to such a specificity that they were able to find the bunnykin at a fairly new settlement. We leave this as a cliffhanger for the moment.
- Wynnie played Firm Boundaries Wingman for L0L4 when a stubbornly lovestruck Glorbus insisted on pushing the bardly Warforged for attention, lovebombing like a sick puppy every moment of the day until Wynnie got him to back off. L0L4's luck in love was not all bad, however; Miriel of the AHARRG Guild Hall of The Endeavour sent some texts her way and the two had some very lovely flirting sessions (including a gracious recovery from Miriel when L0L4 accidentally texted her a Glorbus selfie).
- Al received a missive from one Fendrel Drake requesting to chronicle some of Al's childhood memories from the now-lost village of Verailles. Fendrel, a historian devoted to recording the anthropological experiences of lost cultures, arranged to meet with Al the next time both were in the Cities of Mercy and Wrath. This visit happens next session.
