Ruler
Qualifications
A Ruler chooses the life path of Rulers, and works their way up from Administrators to Village Ruler. Some stop there, while others head to larger settlements to become Junior Rulers before finally reaching the position of Ruler.
Requirements
A Ruler has to have been dedicated to the act of ruling and all that entails. This includes listening and communicating with those who need it, advising the settlement at large and making decisions for the people. Just because someone chooses the life path of Rulers doesn't mean they will be accepted by their settlement to rule, or that they will remain accepted as ruler. They have to earn people's respect.
Duties
A Ruler is duty bound to dedicate themselves every day to the betterment of the settlement and the people who live there. This includes meeting regularly with a Storykeeper or Storyteller to ensure that they are remaining true to themselves and the people they serve.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of a Ruler are:
- To make decisions for the betterment of the settlement that they rule
- To persuade others to follow the decisions that they make
- To listen to the issues, concerns and questions of the people in their settlement (occasionally leaning on Storytellers for help in this area)
- To advise groups where necessary, although this often falls to Storytellers as well
- To liaise with Rulers from other settlements and ensure that their Storytellers are doing the same where necessary
