OttL Session 33: Preventing a Genocide

General Summary

RP chat roundup

• Dreamonskii shows Natsu how to properly bandage her wounds
• Femtid discovers one of the eladrin "children" in her care on the airship is actually a young adult Kitsune, around Natsu's age.  She gives him a stern talking to but allows him to stay.
• Natsu comforts a little kenku girl and her brother who are missing their were-panther mother.  The girl gives Natsu a small stuffed dog, and asks her to deliver it to their mother in the city
• Femtid has a moment of rage, and grabs a child who had messed with the airship controls by the throat.  No harm is actually done, but Natsu still scolds her for it
• Redacted, Natsu, Femtid, Hobbs all have various other scenes of child care, with varying degrees of success.
• Thaiva Phenol, on patrol in the city, nearly dies when a kid fires one of the airship cannons by accident and the shot lands a few feet from her.  Dreamonskii takes over her patrol while she goes back up to the airship to lay down the law and yell at the rowdy children.
• Natsu delivers the stuffed dog to a panther in the The church of Olidammara.  It snatches it from her hands and then immediately retreats, curling protectively around the toy.
• Thaiva Phenol theorizes that Haru is the Avatar
• Thaiva Phenol uses the sending stone to check in with Nihilo.  The person he needs to talk to has Moon Plague, but his investigation is ongoing regardless
• Dreamonskii and Thaiva Phenol have a serious talk about Hobbs.  She convinces him of her intentions and so he writes her a note, promising to back off and let her have Hobbs:

I promise not to enforce my claims on the soul of Hobbs (Formerly known as 'D') unless future events make it clear that his wife is unwilling or unable to keep him in relative safety and comfort for a period of at least thirty days.

Regrouping

• The party regroups in front of the keep.  All PCs are present, as well as both Caerbor in Moonbrook and Dreamonskii.
• The first sign of trouble is Barry the Airship moving at high speed to the other side of the city.  Three unfamiliar airships are approaching Polaris, and scattering to different places.  They all bear the holy symbol of The Dagda 

Tense Negotiations

• A confident, militaristic, red-scaled dragonborn approaches.  He also bears The Dagda's symbol on his armor
• He wears Dave around his neck, and claims that Bosgosho, the "former bearer", is now deceased, having jumped into a beacon and disappeared.
• Dave told The Dagda's people that Moon Plague would cause an untold number of deaths.  This is corroborated by Istus, The Dagda himself, and visions Natsu had while in captivity.
• The man they are talking to, and the rest of The Dagda's forces present in Polaris, seek to kill all Moon Plague patients in the city. 
• Natsu's son was believed to be the Avatar in the previous timeline
• Ignacio Icarsus gradually grows to agree with the attackers and their belief that this must be done.  That is furthered when he steps forward to ask Dave a few questions and is told that the plan will, eventually, stop the plague.
• Olidammara contacts Natsu telepathically, and tells her to stall. Conversation goes on for over twenty minutes, but they fail to dissuade the interloper and come to blows.

Combat Ensues

• Ignacio Icarsus sidelines himself for much of the fight, unable to choose a side
• Everyone immediately piles onto the red-scaled dragonborn, who turns out to be a vampire. 
• Enemy reinforcements arrive, but just as the tide is starting to turn against the players a few water elementals join in the fray, assisting them in the defense of the keep
• Several defenders suffer serious wounds, but none are knocked unconscious in the fray.
• Ignacio Icarsus tries to destroy the vampire's cloud after his death to retrieve Dave, but it is no longer there. 

Aftermath

• After combat ends, most of the party returns to the ship. 
• Natsu and Hobbs return to the keep.  Absolutely everybody that was inside is now gone, including the king, queen, and all of their guards.  While they discuss this, there is a tremendous popping noise and all of the people reappear.
• Queen Promise reappears next to Natsu, holding a large magical rod.  She personally thanks Natsu for stalling long enough for her to retrieve and use the item to protect her people.
• Thaiva Phenol immediately sets about making sure everything is in order on the airship, and that everyone is safe.
