Duke Karl Jamelkyn-Rossendorf-Axeholder
The fiftieth Duke of Jameleska, Karl VI is the son of the respected peace-keeper Drengar V and father to Crown Prince Haakon. A member of the ruling Jamelkyn-Rossendorf-Axeholder dynasty founded by Matilda II, Karl keeps a distant hand in his rule, allowing incredible freedoms to this vassals so long as they keep their subjects in line and pay their necessary homage.
A stoic man, the weight of the crown has changed the once wide-eyed and cheerful young prince. A king built for wartime, Karl’s focus was on balancing the noble courts and ensuring the economy of his duchy worked to is full extent and the guilds did not take too much power, Karl was not suited for the first major war within Jameleskan borders in 300 years.
Nonetheless, the duke persevered, but his hands off approach had resulted in a state with too many moving parts not suited to the unity and strength the war required. If it was not for the intervention of Doomed 2 Die, the duke’s reign may have ended in disaster.
Criticisms
Karl’s laissez faire approach to the various factions in Jameleska has seen widespread corruption spread throughout the city, to the point the Duke was unaware that a member of his own council was under the magical influence of Baron Faylock or that that Jameleskan branch of the Skallen Syndicate were kidnapping civilians and selling them into slavery. Karl has also passed legislation that heavily limits the Worker's Union and peasantry, and did nothing to help distribute resources more fairly when the city was under siege by The Snow Lord†, with around one third of the lower classes living in starvation.Relationships
Karl is famously very stoic and distant from those around him. He has a visibly tense relationship with his son, Haakon, who he sees as weak willed and naïve and not suitable for their crown of heroes. Karl holds a deep respect for Horsha Lenn, and has helped the grizzled veteran regain his status in Jameleskan Military, rewarding his leadership and skill with the rank of martial-general of the army of Jameleska.Meetings
Doomed 2 Die first met Duke Karl at the war council meeting and court martial of Heli Ristor † after he first revealed his Titan form. Karl seemed impressed by Doomed 2 Die, and allowed them the freedom to pursue the war as they saw fit, giving permission to them and the 22nd scouts to ride beyond the walls and counter attack the Snow Lord’s forces.Reign
Karl VI was coronated in 1031, 3e, at the age of 35. His first crisis was the involvement of the Kingdom of Jotun in the 40 year war, and agreed to send a small contingent of soldiers to battle but opted to send aid workers and medics in place of the usual levies as the war had mixed support within Jameleska due to the city's diverse background.
