Vorr

President Vorrindrel Goldling Paladokus (a.k.a. Vorr)

Inventor, capitalist, industrialist and disgraced former president of Gazzarit, Vorr is amongst the greatest minds of his generation. The inventor of numerous advanced technologies, including giant rideable constructs and moving image theatre, Vorr has spent the last two decades as an exile surrounded by his political enemies due to his corruption in the office of president.   Once one of the richest people in his city and leader of a media empire and later commander-in-chief of a new republic, Vorr has since found himself in destitute and desperate. Now in Crowsport living in the workshop of artificer Xan, the chaotic genius seeks to restore his prestige and status and fix his broken legacy.   Before his downfall, Vorr was considered a hero of his people. Former ally if infamous revolutionary, Alexios Libertaki, Vorr was present for key historical events such as the Ucothah Crisis and Commonwealth Revolutionary War. His role in supplying gazzaritian warriors and technology to defend Saunton from Azumon the Burning One and Galvurnax saw a statue errected to his honour in the capital city.

Personal history

Vorr was born in the city of Gazzarit during the reign of Matriarch Varloka to a minor magikari family. Although adept at arane engineering, discrimination against male arcane users and his distracted nature made him ill-suited for magical training, and he was forced into the merchant business, being demoted in caste to a Goldling.   Despite this set back, Vorr used his knowledge, personality, and inventive nature to create impressive feats of technology. He helped contribute to the earliest engines of the city, and his wealth skyrocketed. By the 980s, the inventor was wealthy enough to own some slaves, although he personally didn't approve much of slavery and treated them more as colleagues and workers, even offering some wages to them and equal say in the business.   Vorr would go onto invent moving images, creating the Dream Theatre to showcase these movies, becoming the entertainment tycoon of the city. He came into possession of a small district near his feature known as Vorrwood, and housed numerous 'slaves' there who would be his main creators and actors in his entertainment empire, many living in mansions and being slaves in only name, much the annoyance of more conservative and traditional elements within the city.   Vorr sheltered here with other escaped slaves and citizens during the Ucothah Crisis, and in its aftermath he began to form a movement of other goldlings and minor nobles to reform the city into a capitalist and market economy. Utilising his business part, Julyn, his secret group would ally with exiled adventurers the Parental Problem's Posse to enact his goals. He also helped to uncover the Ucothah plot led by Draesos.   When Draesos made his move and tried to conquer the city with his mind controlled cult, including members of the church of Lolth, Vorr was forced into an alliance with terrorist leader Alexios, the head of the Libertaki. With Libertaki warriors and Vorr's giant mech-suit, Vistani Danger, the adventuring party were able to defeat Draesos and end the second Ucothah crisis.   In the aftermath of this second crisis Vorr's power and prestige increased. Helping to oust the church of Lolth, and galvinizing right-wing support around himself, he was elected as the first president of the Republic of Gazzarit. As president, Vorr's rule was at first extremely popular as he dismantled the previous systems of governent, liberalised the economy, and opened the city-state up dilopmatically.   As his first term drew on, Vorr found himself losing allies and becoming slow to respond. His lack of major social-reform, especially regarding the now freed slave class, saw his large defender and popular Gazzaritian hero, Alexios Libertaki, leave the city with his staunchest supporters. Vorr found himself in more corrupt deals, became slow to respond to the evolving 40 Year War, and began embezzeling money.   Vorr would be betrayed by his former ally, and now head of his entertainment business, Julyn, and was ousted from Government. His adopted daugther, Gal, would be elected in his stead and her first action was to exile the disgraced leader and inventor from the city and recoop his stolen assets for the people. Destitute and exiled, Vorr found himself in the Tentside distract of Palaidcyntaff, where he was forced to spend what little money he could on protection as the district was also full of former Lolthist and Monarchists exiled from Gazzarit under his reign.   Despite opening a new Dream Theatre, and trying to create construct replacements of Julyn, his fortunes didn't change and his dream theatre closed down. Using what little funds he had left, he hired Bessie and Garelen Alazars as protection. Bessie was paid largely in alcohol and some coin, whilst Garelen was offered help in gaining entry to Gazzarit should Vorr's fortunes be reversed.

The Deep Arc

Far across the Terrassic Ocean, Doomed 2 Die were looking for a way to access the deep seas in the Eastern Isles to stop the Scion of the Seas. Allying with a dragonborn artificer named Xan, the group were encouraged to find Vorr, who would be able to help with inventing a submarine for them. After getting in contact with Gal, Doomed 2 Die travelled to Palaidcyntaff onboard their astral ship, The Endeavour, and came to find the inventor.   Upon meeting them, Vorr was excited by the oppertunity to invent new things and to to be given the chance to get away from the dangerous Palidcyntaff. After the party saved him from Lolthist assassination attempt, he travelled back to Crowsport with them to begin work on the submarine.   On the way, however, the ship was ambushed by The Wraiths. Vorr came under some attack, but was allowed to escape through the bard tower door alongside his escorts. He was later found back in Crowsport, and begun his work in enerst. Within 3 days, he had helped the artificer, alongside astral sailor Captain James Tovos and Garelen, to create a submarine that was christened Vanguard.   Vorr helped the party in their mission, sailing into the sea as an engineer on board the submarine. He was charmed by the Scion, but snapped out of it by Xan casting a spell on him. He returned to Crowsport, with his next plans unclear.
