The time of infinite nothingness. Only Zelkis existed.

    The Great Divide
    Celestial / Cosmic

    Zelkis creates the known world, causing his soul to finally split into Zel (creation) and Kis (destruction). Zel and Kis wage war on each other using their godly avatars, scarring the face of Rhune. Eventually, they both create other deities to assist them.

The era in which Rhune was inhabited only by Godly Avatars.

    The Gods Leave Rhune
    Celestial / Cosmic

    Zel and Kis, along with the gods under them, pull out of Rhune and take their conflict to the divine realm. Before leaving, Zel creates humanity as we know it and Kis creates the primordials in an attempt to counter Zel.

The Primeval Period

94 BC 0 BC

Humanity starts to section itself into factions and civilizations rose. The strongest civilizations were those under the protection of a primordial, like that of the Yuan-Ti empire in Grim. Other lands, such as Bastion, were forced to fend for themselves.

    Life Finds a Way
    Discovery, Exploration

    The first known Dragonborn appear in Bastion. During this time, Bastion is widely tribalistic and clan-based.

    Tiamat is Enslaved

    Asmodeus enslaves Tiamat, enlisting her as the archdevil of Avernus, the first layer of Hell. Her job is to guard the gateway between worlds- be it via the River Styx or any other means.

    Rise of the Serpents
    Founding

    The Primordial Serpent claims Grim as its territory, and The Great Leviathan claims Marinas. Under their protection, the ancient Yuan-Ti empire forms and Triton civilization begins, respectively.   Note: In the present day, Marinas refers to the trench that runs through a large portion of Rhune's ocean. While the Triton were around, Marinas referred to the city within the trench.

    Marinas is Built
    Construction beginning/end

    Triton society springs forth as they gather to build a sprawling city. Rather than a traditional government, Marinas takes on a communal approach to living in which resources are shared as equally as possible for the betterment of the people.

    Marinas Struggles
    Geological / environmental event

    Marinas expands too quickly for its own good. The people can't gather resources fast enough to match their growth, leading to scarcity and panic. On top of this, Marinas is plagued with concurrent natural disasters such as volcanic activity and the seasonal blooming of toxic algae.

    Feyreach is Founded
    Founding

    The city of Feyreach is founded and established as the capital of the island. The city gets its name from the Primordial Serpent's first attempt at breaching into the Fey wild.

    The Royal Selection
    Political event

    The Primordial Serpent lessens its watch over Grim in favor of its research into the Fey. In his stead, the serpent calls upon every tribe on Grim to present one candidate to lead as their king. Zhalsuth is selected as his tribe's candidate. This act catches the ire of The Great Leviathan, who thinks that the Serpent is abandoning its people.

    Zhalsuth Takes Power
    Political event

    Zhalsuth is installed as the king of the yuan-ti by the Primordial Serpent. At the same time, a Yuan-Ti named Yang is chosen as the Serpent's Champion.

    Queen Elryn is Instated
    Political event

    The people of Marinas start to blame The Great Leviathan for the hardships they face. To fix the problem, the Leviathan chooses Elryn to become Queen with the hope that she may bring about prosperity as a unifying symbol of the Triton.

    Union of the Yuan-ti and Triton
    Marriage

    Zhalsuth announces his marriage to Queen Elryn on the day of the new year. In doing so, he forges an alliance between his kingdom and the water-dwelling triton.

    Elryn's Kingdom
    Life, Failure / Mishap

    Under Elryn, Marinas crumbles. Their trade with the Yuan-ti fails to sustain their population and they continue to spiral downward. This, coupled with their increasing misfortune dooms them to a slow collapse.

    Zhalsuth's Kingdom
    Life, Wealth

    Under Zhalsuth, Grim thrives. Their trade with the triton coupled with their eventual access to the Fey blesses them with unimaginable wealth and power. The nation enjoys its peace in relative solitude and seclusion.

    The Great Leviathan is Killed
    Revolution

    A revolution takes place in the deep city of Marinas. The Triton continued to blame the Leviathan (and now Elryn) for the lack of resources. This culminates in a peasant uprising. The imposing of Elryn as a Queen had created the divide the Triton were trying to avoid in the first place. The revolution ends after 10 drawn-out years after the combined effort of the entire Triton people manages to kill The Great Leviathan. Elryn escapes the chaos with Zhalsuth and takes refuge in Grim.

    Bastion Develops
    Founding

    Other races start to populate the land and the first cities form. These cities include The Bulwark, Arx, Urbem Dryadales, Eden, and The Precipice of Magic.

    The Primordial Serpent Breaches into the Fey
    Expedition

    The Primordial Serpent achieves its goal of expanding its influence into the Fey.

    The Primordial Serpent Leaves Grim
    Miscellaneous

    The Primordial Serpent is warned of the collision event by his champion, Yang, and decided to escape into the Fey. In doing so, the Primordial Serpent abandons the yuan-ti to die.

    The Collision Event
    Extinction

    A fallen star crashes into Bastion, wiping out all existing civilizations on Rhune and crippling the power of all primordials. Only 10% of life remained after this event, and even less are still around today.

    Asmodeus is banished (along with Sarastra, Fey Queen of Night and Magic) by a high-power deity. Only when the three primary realms merge will he be released.

    Repopulation of Grim
    Population Migration / Travel

    Grim starts to get repopulated. This marks the first time races outside of the yuan-ti have set foot on the island since Queen Elryn. The new residents are diverse but are mostly humans and elves. Also, they are largely tribal until the rediscovery of Feyreach.

    Founding

    The Dwarves use the collision event to their advantage by channeling the power of the fallen star into the largest thaig the world has ever seen.

    After wandering the world for ten years following Asmodeus' disappearance, Tiamat lays claim to the struggling continent of Bastion.

    The Temple of Sin is Built
    Construction beginning/end

    A monument is constructed by Tiamat's loyal followers. All the land's peoples were forced to travel here in order to pay tribute and add to Tiamat's horde.

    Feyreach is Rediscovered
    Discovery, Scientific

    The remnants of Feyreach are discovered by a group of settlers. More importantly, they find a portal to the Fey underneath the city. They harness the power of this portal in order to rebuild the city.

    Grim Becomes Established

    The East section of Grim starts to move from tribal times to actual cities. The West remains largely underdeveloped with the exception of the reclusive dwarves at Dher Boldar.

    The Great Leviathan, now without physical form and existing only in the ethereal plane, gifts Zhalsuth with the Book of the Leviathan

    Grim Flourishes
    Financial Event

    A new generation of nobility takes over Grim and trade has been opened with other countries and continents (Namely, Bastion). This money is used to finally venture into the Tundra of the West and start development.

    Bastion Rebuilds
    Founding

    After the events of the collision and the rule of Tiamat, Bastion finally has time to rebuild and establish itself as a global power. Of the many cities to rise during this time, one of the most prominent was a result of Tiamat's rule: Neverwinter and its Treasure Hunter's guild.

    Gathering / Conference

    Salethar recruits Allak and Zhalsuth for everyone's mutual gain. This marks the starting point of the "The Assembly of Grim" campaign.

    The Aftermath of the Assembly
    Life, Milestone

    Zhalsuth, Allak, and Salethar have all been stopped while Oni, Mex Vultar, and Kell live to tell the tale. The face of Grim is left in ruin as not every settlement was equipped to handle the rise in demonic presence that occurred over the campaign. Feron, Koledo, and Dher Boldar have all fallen while Esterwood, Phywell, Ulford, and Crystmas have been weakened (Crystmas, in particular, would have fallen without the efforts of the party, and Koledo only fell due to James' assassination of the jarl).

    The Gods Return to Rhune
    Celestial / Cosmic

    Reconstruction is all but finished. The divines suddenly start appearing across Rhune, but this time, not to make war. Some walk among the people, while others use their godly avatars to rally their followers and strengthen their favor. They cannot hold their form in the material realm forever, so these appearances became more erratic as time went on.

The return of the gods coupled with the introduction of delirium ushered in a new era.

    The Temple of Former Sin is Established
    Celestial / Cosmic

    With Bahamut's return to the world, The Temple of Sin is renamed and repurposed as a place of worship. Anyone is welcome to take pilgrimage here and pray to whichever god they please.

    Life, Achievement/ Win

    Hunter Solomon, history's strongest Dragonborn, slays the Primordial Kraken with the help of a tribe that lived in what's now modern-day Kraken's Fall.

    Scientific achievement

    The orbiting isle of Gnormandy is created by best and brightest gnomes the world has to offer. Outsiders remain in awe of the technological prowess on display. Some even falsely attribute its movement to powerful magic, but only those that live there truly know what makes the island behave as it does.

    Technological achievement

    A human man named Richard Gatling infiltrated the island of Gnormandy and acquired the schematics for gnomelock weaponry from a secret informant. This informant was discovered and imprisoned before breaking out of jail and fleeing to Bastion.

    A cunning troll rises to power within Litoribus Izalith and creates the first syndicate of extortionists run exclusively by monsters.
