Garnwald

Garnwald is the capital of Sanres, and one of it's oldest cities. Although it is a port city, it is situated at the end of the Bay of Gulls, a calm and deep bay that is inhabited by many aquatic beings. According to legend it was founded by the first humans who came to Sanres, and the majority of it's population are still human. In the centre of the city lies the Wall of Wonders, that separates the Queens Castle, the Senate, and the Cathedral of The Benign Being at it's centre, and a fairly large district where nobles and aristocrats live, from the rest of the city.   Outside of the Wall of Wonders the city is divided into the Merchants District where most of the trade takes place, the Port District where the merchants still store their goods in the warehouses although hardly no ships dock anymore, the University of Magical and Divine Studies lies in the Scholar's District, and outside the outer wall lies the Beggar's District. The outer wall was rebuilt some 60 years ago, when they needed to expand to make room for the new Airship Port known as the Aerodrome. This last district is connected to the Port District through a large gate called The Gates of Gold, because most of what comes through it is valuable. Rumor has it that there's another district, The Underground, a network of catacombs, tunnels, and natural caves that stretches under most of the city, but most people try not to think about it, and does not know how to access it if asked.   No matter where you are in Garnwald, you will see the University of Magical and Divine Studies, a large building in the Scholar's District, that twists and turns towards the sky.   With somewhere between 30.000 and 50.000 citizens, and numerous others who live or visit, the city of Garnwald is never quiet.
