Queen Keyva (Key Va)

Queen Keyva Pleennast- Dresteli

Queen Keyva of Elow  first came to power after the death of her husband, King Orlet IV, in 1483, only 16 at the time, and having not borne a royal heir, protocol demanded she surrender the Elowean throne to the King's brother Prince Jurent. Her refusal marked the start of the Elow/Timer Civil War, which continues to this day.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Queen Keyva considers herself the rightful ruler of Elow and preserver of the monarchy. She has had to make concessions to various parties for the sake of the war, but considers them temporary mesures.

Social

Reign

Queen Keyva has ruled since her husband's death in 1483.

Family Ties

The Dresteli family of Graymonge is old nobility in Elow, tracing its roots back well into the age of myth. It was an honor, even at such a young age, for Keyva to become the king's third wife.   While her marriage to the king of Elow was cut quite short, Queen Keyva failed to bear a royal heir in that time. While this was only a matter of court gossip while the king lived, on his death, it became the ground for civil war.

Social Aptitude

The Queen has proven quite adept at managing the politics of the Elowean court, some say that it is only by playing the various factions of her kingdom off each other -- and giving political powers to non-nobility -- that Keyva has maintained the throne through a prolonged and costly civil war.
