Arborean, House Laharne
The history of House Laharne of the Kingdom of Arborea is dark and tormented. Founded by Vendrel Laharne, an ancient gold elf who transformed into a demonic lich, House Laharne was involved in menial work and the service industry, offering some tacky services, such as the creation and sale of potent drugs, as well as more pleasurable ones, such as the gluttonous food service and lustful entertainment industries.
However, it's fall into Darkness began unnoticed, but their strange behavior caught the attention of the Wardens, who began to investigate. After a lengthy investigation, many members of the house were arrested, but Lord Vendrel and other prominent members escaped. Since then, groups of House Laharne still lurk in Arborea. While there have been innocent members, the house has been regarded as demon worshipers and its members have been considered cultists of the Darkness and therefore dangerous to the realm.
Like extreme utilitarians or hedonists, the Laharne are a group that places a premium on personal pleasure, or "fun", even if it cruelly causes pain and suffering to others and themselves. Some of the crueler, more evil, and more sadistic members of the House directly and intentionally inflict pain on others. Other than being a guild of miscreants, the House Laharne does have still a presence on Valenor; some members work as manual laborers and even slavers, and the house overall has a niche as Valenor's entertainment industry, such as clubs.
Vendrel is the undisputed center of attention of House Laharne when he is awake; when the Lich is hibernating, however, there is an acting Cult Leader. At the time of the game, the acting cult leader was the human sorceress Lyzolda. The family too is under a new leader, Count Zhoron, grandson of Vendrel, that tries desperately to save the power of the house and their money.
Bloodwitches
The Bloodwitches are a cadre of powerful witches who reside somewhere in Arborea and are the closest thing to advisors Vendrel has. Most of the political maneuvering that happens in the Laharne House happens among these witches, most of whom are female. Vendrel prizes chaos and cruelty, so the bloodwitches cultivate these qualities while downplaying their own aspirations for power and privilege. Exava currently wields the most power, although she has to work hard to keep it. Other known bloodwitches are Lyzolda and Hekara.
