Arborean, Archmagi Council
Also knowm as The High Judges, this house is tasked of ruling over the actions of all the other magic user in Arborea. This enermous power is limited by the Rule of Judgement, the act of creation of this house. First of all the Council have no rule inside another house own castles, they cannot enter another house castle just for two reason: Treachery against the Kingdom and Darkness infection. And both causes must be proved before the council take action. The second limitation is that they cannot act against Houses or other group or institution, only against single individuals.
Believing their legislation to be the singular force that prevents Arborea from descending into chaos, the Archmage Council mediates and regulates the activities of all of the other mages, despite their numerous decrees being ignored, often controlling and stopping the research of other mages. The High Judges are characterized as being aloof, bureaucratic, excessively formalistic, and fastidious, spending hours upon hours with legal documents and ensuring action, if any should occur, stringently adheres to protocol. For such reasons, the Archmage are deeply disdained by the general populace, whom the Judges believe will effect a change and subsequent crime, chaos, and general decline in civic life. The High Judges are said to "act through inaction".
The Council is ruled by 3 great mages: The Pillar of Life, The Keeper of Records and the Orb of Knowledge.
- The Pillar of Life is the greatest living mage of the Light Theory, his helpers and subjets are charged with the discovery of any and each Darkness danger, root it out and help in the recovery of the damage.
- The Keeper of Records is the greates living mage of the Runic Magic Theory, they act as scribes and elocuters. The term elocutor covers all communication functions, from simple messengers (who are often ki spirits) to conflict mediation. The retainers of the Keeper write and enact the laws of Arborea, involving the efforts not just of the designated legislators but also a network of bureaucrats: aides, writers, researchers, lobbyists, clerks, and so on.
- The Orb of Knowledge is the greatest living mage of the Divination Magic Theory, his retainers, are known to be lawmages, hieromancers, investigators and enforcers. The Council military, which belongs to this branch, even as small compared to other houses, can be broadly separated into hussars (mounted soldiers) and infantry: all of them are mages of various degree. Arresters specialize in preventing or stopping things from happening. Their role is also venturing into the work of managing surveillance and precognition.
