Shan Rathaus

Shan - Rathaus

**Rathaus Palace:**

**Architecture and Design:**
  • The Shan Rathaus Palace is an imposing Dularian-style structure, characterized by decorative battlements that adorn the main facade and give the palace a regal and majestic air.
  • The Burgomaster's residence is located in the center of the palace, with three floors in height and a sloping roof that gives a distinctive appearance to the building.
  • **Interior:**
  • Inside the palace, there are numerous administrative offices that manage the affairs of Shan City, including those related to finance, public order and urban planning.
  • The great Assembly Hall is the beating heart of the palace, adorned with the bright colors of the banners of the various districts of the city and of the local corporations, a symbol of the unity and diversity of Shan.
  • **Folklore and Stories:**
  • According to a local legend, the Rathaus Palace stands on the site of a temple dedicated to an ancient deity, whose spirit is said to still hover in the deserted rooms of the palace. It is said that during full moon nights, a ghostly image of the temple reappears in place of the Rathaus. Those who have tried to venture into the ancient temple have never turned back.
  • **City Guards:**
  • City guards keep constant watch both inside and outside the palace, manning the entrance doors and patrolling the corridors and courtyards to ensure the safety of the Burgomaster and administrative officials.
  • The city guards are historically loyal to the city and not to the Burgomaster, but the current burgomaster has begun promoting officers loyal to him personally and removing those he doesn't like.
    **Other details:**
  • Despite its majesty and its importance for the political life of the city, the Rathaus is shrouded in an atmosphere of mystery and eeriness, fueled by the legend of Ruthgar the Greedy, one of the first Burgomasters of Shan, who after having having bled the city dry with unjust and unpopular taxes, he was lynched by the population on the steps of the Rathaus. It's a saying in the city: "To end up like Ruthgar."
