Manna

Manna is the goddess of magic, and although she did not create Mana it is named after her. She was born in tune with it like no one before or since, and she alone holds the power to freely move it from place to place. Due to this affinity she is able to pull large quantities of mana to her at any time, granting her spells nearly limitless power. By the same affinity she is able to push mana away from any being or place if she desires, greatly hindering or eliminating their ability to wield magic at all.   Before her time, mana moved chaotically throughout Seinnaris, clumping in places and becoming depleted in others. Seeing the devastation caused by unpredictable magic, she took it upon herself to actively balance the spread of mana across all of Seinnaris at all times. This requires her constant attention and focus, and it is only because of this that magic use has become stable and predictable, and in turn as prevalent as it has.

Description

Manna is not often witnessed by anyone, preferring to keep herself sequestered to attend to the never ending task of balancing. Kansa, after returning from freeing her from Senno, remarked that she was a beautiful woman, tall and firm, with pale skin that sparkled like starlight and opalescent eyes that shone in shades of blues and silvers, adorned with flowing robes that first appeared white but shone with iridescent light as she moved.

Personality

It is said that in her earlier years she was wild and full of youthful vigor. She wielded magic more powerfully than anyone else could even dream of, and she used it to shape the world to her will at times. As she saw more of Seinnaris though, and learned of the suffering that magic could bring, she became remorseful for her actions. Now she is said to be a solemn figure, prioritizing her self assigned duty above all other things.

Relationships

In times long passed, Manna was friendly with all the wilder deities of Seinnaris. She enjoyed friendly rivalries with Alsus, Sansha, Hamamoto, and Salios. None of these compared with the rivalry she shared with Senno, who was perhaps the closest friend of her life to date. As time passed and she matured, she held out faith that she could likewise reform those she had once run wild with. It was for this reason that she trusted Senno enough to be tricked and imprisoned, leading to the events of The Break. Since being freed she has become even more withdrawn, not interacting with any deities at all, and barely interacting with even her most devout followers.

History

Manna was born with an unparalleled connection to the natural force of magic in the world. It was only through her that the force become understood and in time it was given the name Mana in her honor. A young Manna was wild and passionate, freely traversing the material plane and shaping things to her will. She cavorted with all manner of powerful beings, and maintained relationships and rivalries with most of the other wild and chaotic deities of the times. None more so than Senno, with whom she was almost always competing in one form or another.   As she travelled Seinnaris and witnessed more of it's people, she saw first hand the results of magic weilded by those who were not in tune with mana like she was. She saw inconsistent behavior and dangerous results. She witnessed pain, suffering, and a growing fear of magic as a practice. She saw that those who tried to use magic were ostracized for it.   In time she came to the realization that only she could solve this particular problem, and took it upon herself to ensure that magic became a reliable tool for all. She spent more and more of her time smoothing out the flow of mana across Seinnaris and maintaining a perfect hamonious balance. She grew out of her wild persona and into a more mature and dedicated servant of the greater good. This began to put her in conflict with the beings she used to have fun with in the years prior. Unable to cut ties with her former friends and her former life, she always strove to reform them and bring them around just as she had.   In H243 this trust from Manna allowed Senno to trick and trap her deep within Coldreach Bastion and outside of the reach of the natural flow of mana. Unable to pull mana to herself, she was for the first time in centuries unable to maintain the proper balance of mana in Seinnaris. This event became know as The Break and it led to a widespread decline in the use of magic across Seinnaris.   It wasn't until S30 that Kansa the Eastwind was finally able to liberate Manna and the balance was restored. After this, Manna became even more reclusive and stopped interacting with the other deities entirely.
